Lily stared out the window of her new dorm room at the dreary rain that had seemed to have been pouring all day and it didn’t seem to be slowing down. She twisted a strand of her long, blonde hair around her finger as she leaned against the window sill.

“Staring out the window is not going make California magically appear outside.” Her mother came in and put another box on her bed. “Honey, you want to play soccer and this is a great opportunity for you. St. Bart’s has one of the best high school soccer teams and England has some of the best soccer clubs.”

Lily turned and looked at her mom in disbelief, “Mom, I can play soccer in California. THIS is a boarding school. And I can’t surf here and it is ALWAYS raining!”

“Lily, your stepfather is providing you a wonderful opportunity. Please take advantage of it.” Her mother came over and gave her a kiss on the forehead. “We’re just a phone call away if you need to talk. And you’ll be home for the summer before you know it. And you never know, you might like it here. Make some friends.”

Lily rolled her eyes and her mother left her alone in her dorm room. After staring out the window for a moment longer, she changed into her running shoes, soccer shorts, and a hoodie. She looked out at the pouring rain and said, “This is going to suck, but if I’ve got to stay here, I might as well go play.”

She ran out to the abandoned soccer field and did some shooting drills. She pulled her hood up over her head to block some of the rain.

She jumped a little when she heard a male voice with an English- accent call after her, “Hey, mate, we need to use the field. You’re pretty good, man.”

She turned and locked eyes with him, flipping her hood down.

The very attractive boy looked at her with surprise when he noticed she was a girl.

She just said, “The field is all yours.” She dribbled her ball off the field and back towards the dorm, leaving the boy still standing there.

He follows

Jim was surprised when he saw the hood get removed and then the long blonde hair. He blinked as he was taken back not knowing the soccer player was actually a girl. He saw her begin to walk off and looked to he other guys with him before he started to head after her.

"Hey wait up there." He just had to meet her as he was curious about who she was. He ran up until he was along side of her giving her a slight smile as he was breathing a little heavy from his jog over.

"Your pretty good you know. How come I haven't seen you around here before?"

"Your pretty good you know. How come I haven't seen you around here before?"

Lily heard him as he jogged after her, slowing his jog as he came up beside her.

"Thanks. I just moved here. Note the American accent." She was still mad that she had to be here and she was unintentionally taking it out on other people.

She stopped and turned towards him when she saw his face after her cold response. "Sorry about that. I have some unpacking to do and it looks like you have a practice to get to. I'm sure I'll see you around. Maybe we can play a little one on one."

She gave him a shy smile before picking up her ball and jogging off in the direction of the dorms.

"I'm sure I'll see you around. Maybe we can play a little one on one."

He smirked as he watched her go jogging off before he could really say anything. Well his impression was that she was a total bitch. However, that changed when she apologized. He smiled to her when she said she was sorry and was about to speak about her one on one comment. Maybe it was for the better as he called after her. "I'm James by the way." Figured he should introduce himself before she got too far away.

His eyes watched her for a moment as he held his msirk before turning back to join his fellow teammates. He thinks he will have to make a trip by the dorm rooms later today.

"I'm James by the way." She heard him call after her as she jogged towards the dorms. She had to admit that he was pretty good- looking.

She could see the soccer field from her room and from what she could see, this James guy was pretty good.

She grabbed her shower stuff and went down the hall to the bathroom to get ready for dinner and the Welcome Back Dance.

While he was playing with his mates on the field they were talking. A couple of the guys were saying about some sort of dance at the dorm over there near the field.

James know that is the direction that the girl went off and shrugged his shulders. Perhaps that would be the place to meet her. It would atleast give him something to do as he was finishing up practice for the day. He went towards his fraternity to get himself ready. Well it was an open invitation to all students so he figured he would make an appearance atleast

Lily left the bathroom after her shower and she noticed that all the girls were wearing dresses. They were really going all out for this dance. Lily didn't really like dressing up, but she was told that she looked gorgeous when she did.

She owned like one dress and it was one that her sister had bought her in hopes that she would grow out of her tomboy phase.

It was a black, strapless dress that went down to her knee and looked great with her blonde hair and tanned skin. She fixed her hair into loose curls that hung down her back. She put on a little makeup, but she didn't need much.

Lily looked at herself in her full-length mirror and tugged at her dress. "Why do girls wear this stuff anyway?"

It was finally time for the dance so she reluctantly made her way down to the social room on the bottom floor of the dorm. She seemed to turn the head of everyone as she passed even the girls.

The dance was already in full swing when she arrived and everyone seemed to be having a great time. She sat down at a table that was out of the way.

Well he did luckily have a suit jacket as he came out of the shower dressing up to be somewhat formal. Slacks were slipped on as well as a button up shirt that was tucked in. He dismissed the thoguht of a tie knowing it would get very uncomfortable very fast. He slid on the jacket as he checked himself in the mirror.

He made his way with a few of his mates to the dance as his eyes looked around once he was inside. Perhaps he was looking to see if she was there yet but he hadn't noticed her. He would wander about talking to one person and then another as he smiled finally seeing her in that dress.

He made his way over to her taking a seat in a chair leaving one between them. "Fancy running into you here... sorry I don't think I quite got your name."

Lily saw James when he entered the dance, but she turned her attention back to watching everyone dancing.

She was a little surprised when he came over and sat at her table, "Fancy running into you here... sorry I don't think I quite got your name."

She smiled and said, "Because I didn't give it to you....but my name is Lily. James, right?"

"Bond, James Bond" He laughed as he shook his head at his own attempt at a joke.

"I'm sorry... I just thought it would be funny since I am English and I have that accent.. but you can call me Jim.." He offered a hand to her smiling slightly.

"It is a pleasure to meet you Lily... and may I say you look so stunning in that dress."

Lily gave him a courtesy laugh for his "James Bond" joke, but she had to admit that the accent was pretty sexy.

"It is a pleasure to meet you Lily... and may I say you look so stunning in that dress."

Lily was glad that the lights were dimmed so he couldn't see her blush. She took his hand and gave it a slight shake, saying, "Thank you. You look very handsome.....I must say you look very nice when you're not standing in the pouring rain." She fumbled her words a bit and added, "Not that you didn't look nice before. You know what I mean." She let out a small giggle at herself.

She noticed that he was still holding her hand so she nervously pulled it away, using it to tuck her hair behind her ear.

He smiled when she was nervous about talking to him. He could tell by the sound in her voice. Also with the way she said he looked nice. Always would bring a smile to someone's face.

"Well thanks Lily... I try to clean up nicely. So your all the way from America huh? Just arriving in the country?"

Perhaps he was curious about her or perhaps he didn't know what else to say without letting his eyes wander over her body. he would takes glimpses downward when he saw she was looking away or not at him.

Lily had to admit that she was really nervous for some reason when she was talking to him. Maybe it was because she was in a different country and she didn't quite know how things operated her. She never had any trouble talking to guys in California. That's all she hung out with, being a tomboy like she was.

"Well thanks Lily... I try to clean up nicely. So your all the way from America huh? Just arriving in the country?"

She smiled and turned towards him. She thought she saw him checking her out as she turned, but she dismissed it and said, "Yea, I'm from California. Just got here yesterday. It's a big difference here. Everything is different. The people....the food..... the weather ."

He nodded his head listening to her tell him how everything was different here. He thought about it for a moment the gave a shrug to his shoulders.

"I guess it is different in some ways. Then again it can be very similar. Atleast we all speak English." He was now trying to comfort her as he just looked to the dance floor then back to her.

"Also a lot of customs are the same. Like when a guy sees a good-looking girl. He generally asks her to dance. Want to dance Lily?" his hand was offered to her once again after only moments ago having it released while he shook it.

"Also a lot of customs are the same. Like when a guy sees a good-looking girl. He generally asks her to dance. Want to dance Lily?"

Lily smiled and took his hand, rising from her seat. "I like that custom." She let him lead her out onto the floor where the music had shifted to a slow song.

He looked about for a moment as the music turned to a bit of a slower song. He smiled at her as he shrugged his shoulders. Better get close up he thought. His arms moved around her waist slowly as he watched her.

"Guess it is just our luck... that the tempo changes once we are out here... maybe it is just fate."

"Guess it is just our luck... that the tempo changes once we are out here... maybe it is just fate."

Lily smiled as he wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her close to him. She wrapped her arms around his neck as they began swaying to the musics.

"So tell me....how did you get carted off to boarding school?"

"So tell me....how did you get carted off to boarding school?"

He gave a slight shrug to his shoulders as he smiled lightly. "Well I wasn't actually carted off here. I kinda wanted to come here. Get out on my own sort of thing you know? Just need to be me."

He moved with a slow circle with her moving his body slightly side to side. His hands shifting some as he moved himself slightly closer looking over her face as they had the conversation while dancing.

"Well I wasn't actually carted off here. I kinda wanted to come here. Get out on my own sort of thing you know? Just need to be me."

She could feel him pulling her closer and closer, moving his hands a little. She had to admit that she liked being this close to him.

"Well...atleast it was your choice. I got sent here because it's a 'good opportunity' for my soccer career....I think it was so my stepfather could get me out of the way, but whatever..."

She laid her head on his shoulder as their bodies moved together. She pressed closer to him as the song continued.

"Well...atleast it was your choice. I got sent here because it's a 'good opportunity' for my soccer career....I think it was so my stepfather could get me out of the way, but whatever..."

He felt her head rest on his shoulder as he lifted a hand rubbing his fingers through her hair after his hand slid up her back. His other remained down on her lower back just above the cruve of her rear.

"Well you'll enjoy yourself here. You'll see."

He just kept moving to the music with her closing his eyes as they danced. He was actually starting to like the song that was playing.

Lily just closed her eyes and listened to the music as they swayed.

"Well you'll enjoy yourself here. You'll see."

She smiled and looked up at him, "I'll take your word for it....but things are looking up."

Lily didn't know why she felt so comfortable with him. Maybe it was because he seemed to be only good thing about this awful place. She felt safe and wanted when she was near him. It was good to feel since she was beginning to feel thrown away by her mom.

"I'll take your word for it....but things are looking up."

He turned his head and looked at her as she was dancing oh so close with him. His fingers continued running through her hair as his other just kept moving along her lower back. He smiled as he could only assume she was talking about him by saying things are looking up.

"Well if there is anything you need... you just let me know. And I mean anything: directions, advice, school help, or just someone to talk to. Alright?"

He found himself intrigued by her. He didn't know why at the moment. Perhaps because he didn't expect a girl to be so good at soccer when he saw her earlier. Now he is seeing a slightly softer side to her.

"Well if there is anything you need... you just let me know. And I mean anything: directions, advice, school help, or just someone to talk to. Alright?"

She could feel his hand rubbing against her lower back and she didn't want him to let go as the song ended. She had been thinking about all the things he could do for her which was not her normal way of thinking, but for some reason she felt connected to him.

As the song ended, Lily stepped back away from him and smiled, "I'll be sure to remember that. And if you need anything, you can let me know too. Of course I won't be of much use, but hey, you never know."
