Avoid prompting when opening images?

Hi. New on board. I've been checkin'
out the lovely images on Amateur Pics
but in both Netscape and Firefox every
time I open an image I have to hit an
OK button, then close the extra browser
window. No matter how I change browser
settings it acts the same in both browsers.
It gets tiring after a while. :)

Anyone else solve this? I'm using Firefox 1.0 and Netscape 7.1

TIA

It'll still open a new window, but there's an extension for Firefox called IEView. Once installed, you just right-click and select 'Open Link Target in IE'...an IE window will open with the attachment, and you'll avoid all of the extra windows and prompts. There are likely other extensions, but IEView seems to be the most popular. Welcome! :)

Thank you. Glad to be here. Guess when
you say Sweet in your handle you
ain't lyin'. :)

Thanks ReadyOne. Also I've found once you get the
new Firefox window to display the image you can
avoid new windows popping up by dragging the
link with the left mouse button. Or if you don't
want to install the Agent, just open an IE window
and log in, then drag links onto it to show the pics.

Man! Some really pretty babes in those pics!
Worth the effort. :)

I'll have to give these suggestions a try too. I tried Firefox after I re-imaged my machine due to a particularly nasty spyware infestation. I loved Firefox but ended up switching back to IE due to this exact problem. Thanks a ton!!!!!

This is a known problem in Firefox, and if also in Netscape, the also in Mozilla.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=236541 for more info.

Installing User Agent Switcher in Firefox will let you appear as IE for fetching images, which bypasses the problem.

I've followed that link everytime you've posted it, yet could never figure out where the fix was...this time I typed 'User Agent Switcher' into google, and voila! The extension was right there all along! lol

Hmm, I try to avoid IE when possible. The integration
with the Windows Explorer is just too tempting a target.
Sometimes you just have to use it on some sites though. :(

That's one of the things I like about Konqueror in Linux.
It has that "impersonate another browser" gizmo built
in IIRC. I'm still looking for the perfect bookmark
converter merger management app. Right now I
mostly use Firefox so I'm using the extension that
puts your bookmarks on your FTP site. But everything
I've tried that supposedly merges Firefox bookmarks
to IE or Netscape just craps out when run. :(

I'm lazy or maybe I'd write my own. Might have to
if I don't find anything good that's free. ;)
