Hi all,

I have a technical question about the board that some of you might be able to answer. When I go to Edit Avatar in the user cp section, there is only on radio button on "Do not use avatar" (or some similar wording). No other option that I can find, nor can I find anyting in the FAQs. Is this an option that comes after a certain amount of posts, or am I just blind (and/or dense) and not seeing the option? Thanks for any help! :D

[Yoda]Post more you must if avatar you seek. But spam, you must not, for that is the way to the Dark Side.[/Yoda]

The answer surreptitiously hides in the FAQ: :D

Why is the word "Virgin" beneath my username? I'm not a virgin!

The title beneath your username on the Bulletin Board will change as you make more posts. Here are the current titles at each post level:

0-29 posts - Virgin
30-99 posts - Experienced
100-299 posts - Really Experienced
300-499 posts - Really Really Experienced
500-999 posts - Literotica Guru
1000+ posts - You can create your own title via your Control Panel.

Once you've made 100 posts, you can upload an avatar (an image) to go beneath your name. Please do not use copyrighted images as your av.

100 posts, to be exact. :)

At 1000 posts, you can change your title.

Wise words, Obi-limo.

Someone should save the answer in a word doc and the minute a newbie appears just send it without waiting for them to ask. (I remember banging my own head against that conundrum a year ago.)

Is a twelve thousand word essay explaining the rules and restrictions as well as how really boring answering this same question over and over is for everyone long enough, Roxanne?

Gosh, and then someone should put a link to it in a sticky thread marked "Please Read".

Oh, wait.

Ah, thank you for the answers. I figured it was a post number type thing, but I didn't know the exact post number. :D And don't worry, I don't plan on spamming--well, except in the Last game. :D That's just too much fun to be called spamming, though. :D :D

That's a lotta green smileys :D

And...

Don't tell us that you can't upload an AV when you do reach 100.

You have to log out and log back in again, or it doesn't work. :D :D

To Abs place I am going. Hunf.

Yoda is kewl. <nods>

<following kendo while trying to figure out how in the hell I'm going to log 100 posts>

Practice, practice, practice.

And a lot of wasted time.

There's something I wish someone had mentioned in a thread a month ago just before I got my 100 posts :D

And I love smilies too :D

I think the reason the Avatar question is asked so frequently is because the answer is so well hidden. Most Bulletin Boards put their FAQ *ON* the bulletin board someplace; not on a related website! I read the entire "blank manual" and don't remember seeing the 100-post rule mentioned, except in other, linked threads......Carney

Avatar Question

Dear ( Insert your name here),

You have posed a question about Avatars. We understand your want of an Avatar seems important to you as a newbie. But let me assure it, to those Literotica Members who have been here for some time, your want seems much less important. However, to continue.

This is a question that is posed in one forum or another nearly every single day. Many helpful Literoticans always jump at the chance to answer, even though this is all clearly covered in the FAQ section. Again, now another attempt will be made to answer this question.

Avatars are little pictures you select to represent yourself to other members. It will appear in the upper left hand corner directly above the word “VIRGIN”, “Experienced“ or “Really Experienced“, depending on how new you really are.

Do you see where the Avatar belongs? I will wait a few minutes while you search the entire screen page and do not find the place.

Dum dee dum…. Dum dee dum…

Didn’t find it eh? Ok. Lets start with the basics.

<<---- LEFT. OK?

Scroll along that side until you get to the top. See where it says, “VIRGIN”?

Dum dee dum…. Dum dee dum…

Ok, you found it this time. Excellent. You will be a Literotican yet.

That is where you Avatar will show up once you have one.

Now, go to your User C/P. Along the LEFT side (remember LEFT?) there is a heading that reads, “Settings & Options”. Under that there are some lines. The fifth line reads, “Edit Avatar”. Click that line with your mouse.

Now go ahead and click around in there. I would suggest you click everything in sight, just for fun.

Dum dee dum…. Dum dee dum…Dum dee dum…. Dum dee dum…

Didn’t work, huh? It’s not supposed too.

When you grow up and become a Literotican you can actually click something in there and have an Avatar. But that time is still in the future (possibly YEARS in your case).

Now look at the thread screen. See in the upper right hand corner where it says “Join Date”?

Yes, dearheart. RIGHT is ----------> that way.

Now skip down one line to where it says, “Posts”. What is the number following the word “Posts”? Is that number larger than 100? No?

Ok come back and ask again when it does.

Thank you for your time.

Sorry for bothering you with my question. I did not see it clearly in the FAQ section. But don't let my appology get in the way. By all means, continue with the belittling of me. Thank you for your time with the long letter.

Wouldn't have spent the time on a holiday off if we didn't like you, Ravlicious ;)

And people say that members of the AH think they are rude. Go figure.
Do they?
WHOAH! does AH have "membership"?
Like, is there a president, Vice, sexretary, treasure-box and all that?
dues?

of course my "member" is rather rude. Always trying to go places it's not wanted.
