It was cold and quiet in the hold of the small passenger ship as it came to the end of its journey, a long haul all the way from the Fire nation capital, through the great gates of Azulon, across the ocean and to the ports of Republic City. It had made good time in its three week trip, even managed to shave almost two days off the arrival date, and should be coming in to port in time for daybreak on day twenty. Not all was calm in the cheep seats section at the back of the ship though, one passenger, a young water tribe man, was tossing a turning in the little hammock bed he could afford on the ship, a cold sweat running from him making him look like he was fresh from a sauna and murmuring incomprehensibly under his breath.

The man sat bolt upright with an sharp intake of breath, his eyes glowing pure white for the briefest of moments before they returned to the far more mundane pupil and iris configuration. A few seconds later he came to his senses, remembered to breathe and looked around, reacquainting himself with where he was, much to his lack of his surprise, he found himself half naked in a cheep swaying bed on a cheep ship, covered in a thin layer of frost that had been sweat only a moment ago. “This why I don’t like top bunks” he whispered to himself, the inflections all sounding like it was a joke, but the look on his face was anything but jovial.

He jumped down from the hammock he was on and turned to regard the poor sap underneath, who now had ice cold sweat water to look forward to in about half an hour when it thawed and dripped through “I tried to warn him” his tone still wildly at odds with the shake in his hands and the troubled look in his eyes. He quickly brushed most of the frost off and threw on some clothes before heading off to catch some air above deck, it occurred to him half way up that he could have just gotten rid of all the water and ice on his hammock without too much trouble, but he was already gone, and that guy had been a jerk about getting the bottom bunk anyway.

Up above on deck it was much nicer, cleaner air and a lively comforting chill on the wind that would remind any water tribe native of home, though it seemed to to little for the mans mood as he made his way to the prow of the ship. What he saw there though, managed to bring a smile to his face. He saw land and a few scattered lights in the distance, he saw Republic city, his final destination and where he was going to make it big as a pro bending champion. He punched his palm and stood tall, confidence finding its way back in to his features “Yeah, this is it” he said to himself “no more sleeping in alleyways, no more living day to day, time to do some winning for a change.”

****************************

An hour and half later and the ship was making its final approach to the city wharf through Yue bay, not only had the man since retrieved his luggage from down below, a bag slung over one shoulder and a well worn suitcase, but he had been joined by quite a few of the other passengers, all of them showing themselves as awestruck tourists to the city by they way they were all marveling at the sights and pointing things out to those around them. The thing that had caught his eye and held it, was a small island in the bay with a giant statue of a young man in monks robes, its gaze falling over the city like it was their protector.

The statue was of Aang, the last Avatar, the man who ended the hundred year war, the man who created the United Republic of Nations almost single handed, and, the man he had been in a past life. He was Korroh, the great and might Avatar, or at least that’s what he was supposed to be, when he was attacked and his family killed for no reason other than him being the Avatar, he decided he was going to pass on the job.

But he still couldn’t look away from the statue, it was like it was looking at him, it felt almost familiar, like looking at an old photo of yourself that you had forgotten about. He ended up watching the damn thing all the way to the port, only pulling himself away when the ship was finally letting off passengers, as enthralling as the statue had been, it didn’t hold a candle to the promise of finally being off the boat and on dry, not constantly swaying land again., so with almost a skip in his step, he made his way off the boat and followed the directions of the port officials to a large building that he realized too late was a customs office.

Well, too late to slip away without causing a fuss, Korroh would just have to lie his way through the process yet again. “Next” called a tired and overworked functionary, gesturing for the next person without even looking to see who it was. Korroh sighed and made his way over, sitting down across from the man and trying to look as awestruck as some of the other passengers had been “Good morning” He said in his most chipper voice, causing the functionary to finally look up form his stack of papers to scowl at Korroh, clearly taking offense at how awake he was.

“Papers please” Korroh quickly handed over the ticket stub he had used to get on the boat, still keeping an innocent tourist look on his face. The functionary looked at the ticket and sighed, looking back to Korroh “Don’t tell me this is all you have, no other documents to prove who you are.”

“Well, I can not tell you, but, um, I also can't give you any other documents” Korroh hated intentionally trying to sound stupid, but sometime it had to be done for the greater good of him being let out sooner. “Is this going to be a problem?” The functionary sighed “No sir, lets just start with where you're from Mr” he looked at the ticket stub “Tashi? Strange name”

“Oh I'm from the southern water tribe originally, though I'm coming from the fire nation right now, and yeah, my name is a little weird, apparently its the name of some old airbender monk, my mum was a huge fan of the Avatar” Korroh made no signs of stopping this little information dump of things completely irrelevant to the functionarys needs, until the functionary gave up and ended it by raising his hand to silence him.

“That will be enough sir, Tashi of the southern water tribe, coming via the fire nation, please sign here to verify that what is written is correct.” the functionary slid the document he had been writing on over to Korroh for inspection, it wasn’t even half done, but he signed it and slid it back anyway. “Thank you sir that will be all, please enjoy your stay in Republic city.” And with that, Korroh was free.

“Oh I will” he quickly grabbed his bag and left before anyone could stop him, not that anyone made any moves to, everyone in there was just as tired as the functionary had been, that dawn arrival had really worked out for him. Now he was out in the light of day with nothing to stop him, in Republic City, and he had absolutely no idea what to do next. “You'd think that at some point in the boredom of the three week boat ride over here I would have thought of some kind of game plan” he sighed and hung his head “but no, none at all. Alright, time for the basics, get my money changed to the local currency and find somewhere to sleep” he picked a direction and started walking, with any luck, towards either a bank or a cheep hotel.

Character Profile : Urisa (oo-ree-sah) - Firebender - Age 21 - Pro Bending Competitor - Firebending Dojo Leader.

"Oh come on now! Shoot that fire like you're angry! Quit being such a wimp!" Urisa is a firebending master in Republic City. She had moved here from the outskirts of the Capital City of the Fire Nation when she was a child. Her family didn't like the idea of Firelord Zuko transferring his duties to his daughter. She didn't know anything of it at the time, she just moved when she was told to. She was now trying to teach young Firebenders how to properly fight. And the people she had to teach were not on her level, which made her upset.

She sighed as she moved to the door, looking at the time. "You may all go now. Tell your parents to be here on Friday Morning -- you all will present your fire to the Dragon Statue at that time for the ceremony." She watched as the last person left to go home before she closed the door. She was also a competitor in the Pro Bending Tournaments -- along side her best friend Unolan, an Earthbender. Their third partner, the Waterbender, had quit earlier today, so Urisa was in a rush to find another person for the job. Unolan has put her in charge of doing so and now she was against the clock to find a guy. If they didn't find a waterbender to compete, they would have to throw in the towel.

She left her dojo and went out to the corner pub. She wanted to have some Sake before she decided to go to her night job. A lot was riding on her mind as she looked around the restaurant. She finished her pork bun before she headed outside. She walked towards the Pro Bending Colosseum when she bumped into a guy wearing Water Tribe garb. "Oh hey, sorry for bumping into you.." She noticed that he was quite lost into his own world as he was looking around.

"Are you looking for someone or looking to go somewhere?" She stopped him taking hold of his arm. "Where are my manners? I'm Urisa, I run the Firebending Dojo here." She held out her hand to shake his as she looked to him with a smile.

Korrohs search had gone less than well, he had found a bank, but it was far too upper class for the likes of him and he was quickly shooed out the door like some kind of homeless vagrant, which he may have very well have been at the time, but that didn't make it any less rude. The search for a bed and a roof over his head hadn't fared much better, he had found a few places that weren’t complete garbage, but the price gouging against foreign money was ridiculous, if the had been one advantage to finding that snooty bank first it was that he at least found out the exchange rate.

So here he was, couldn't get a room without the local yuan, and the only place he could get that was at some stalls he found that, surprise surprise, we're offering a terrible deal. There was one that was favorable on the exchange rate, but it was pretty shady and the money was more than likely counterfeit.

Given his spectacular lack of success, he gave up on that plan and looked for something else to occupy his time, betting instead on the hope that his problems would somehow fix themselves. He managed to slip himself in to a tour group without the guide noticing, but it was the Avatar tour, so they looked at nothing but places that Aang had been, where he opened some public building or his favorite vegetarian noodle stand. It was one of the most boring things Korroh had ever done.

The tour group was set to go to airbender island next, and since he had met half the airbenders alive years ago, it was probably best to avoid there if he wanted to keep his anonymity. So he left the group, but not before he nabbed one of the city maps the tourists had, didn't have street names, but at least it listed the landmarks. The first place he wanted to go was the pro bending arena in Yue bay, which looked somewhat close according to his map, half an hour of walking later though, he had only gotten further from the bay.

"Where in the world am I?" He wondered to himself as he looked around at the nondescript intersection he found himself at, before he could come up with an answer though someone bumped in to him, somewhat interrupting his chain of thought. "Oh hey, sorry for bumping into you.." “Oh no, it was my fault, really” he didn’t give the person he had bumped much attention, he had just realized that if he climbed on of the buildings, he would easily be able to see where the bay was, why didn’t he think of it sooner, it was so simple.

Before he could enact his cunning plan, the person he bumped in to kept talking and grabbed his arm to stop him. "Where are my manners? I'm Urisa, I run the Firebending Dojo here." And instantly Korroh wished he had been paying more attention as soon as he bumped in to her, she was a looker “Tashi” he replied, swapping his suitcase to his other hand so she could shake hers “fresh off the boat, just arrived from the Fire Nation capital this morning and I have no idea where I am now. Oh, actually” he let go of her hand to rummage around in his pocket, producing the map had been using earlier “I've been using this to try and find the Pro Bending arena” he held up the map, upside down, and the fact that he couldn’t find something so easy meant he had probably been doing that the entire time “Don’t suppose you could give me some directions?”

When he spoke about the Fire Nation capital, Urisa was instantly homesick. "Wow, been a long time since I was there," she said as she looked up to the stars that were starting to show in the darkening sky. She then let her gaze look back over him -- taking in any information she could from just looking to him. He may have been from the Fire Nation just off the boat, but he was wearing Waterbender clothes. Quite muscular too. Her mind was starting to wander in the naughty direction..

That's when he spoke about wanting to find the Pro-Bending Arena. Her eyes widened at his words. "Oh, well that's easy. I'm heading there right now." She took his map after gesturing for it. "It's right here, where the star is.." She pointed at the map. She then looked back up to him. "Would you like to go there with me? I can probably even get you a ticket considering I'm a competitor...well, I am at the moment. Sorry to concern you with this, but you wouldn't happen to be a Waterbender, would ya?"

She was hoping that he could help her with being a competitor. She didn't want to lose out on the money reward tonight because then she'd miss the rent on her dojo again.

A pretty woman wanted to take Korroh to a Pro Bending match, not only that, she could get him a free ticket because she was a Pro Bending competitor, this day could not get any better... Wait, she was a competitor, Korroh was not only talking to, but had shook the hand of a pro bender, if it wasn’t for her next question confusing him a little and throwing him off he would have gone full fanboy crazy over it all.

“Am I a waterbender?” Korroh repeated the question, not entirely sure what to make of it, it didn’t sound like it was just a curious side question “I mean, yeah I am, but why?” the cogs were slowly turning in his head as he talked, and then all of a sudden it hit him, but could it be? Surely he was just imagining this, that someone would just walk up to him on the street and ask him if he wanted to be a Pro Bender.

“Wait wait, back up, are you asking what I think you're asking?” he asked her, his eyes narrowing with skepticism as he looked at her. Was she really a Pro Bender, or was this all some kind of ingenious ruse, it wouldn’t be the first time he was targeted by this kind of this because he was new in town. “Because it sounds like you might be asking if I can be on your team, and the idea of someone on the street not only randomly asking if I want to fulfill my lifelong dream, but also being able to make it happen is pretty unlikely.”

Oh his words! "Yes!" she screamed mentally. He was the one they needed. "Oh that is great that you are a waterbender! We're in need of a competitor..." She heard his skepticism and understood how he would be not wanting to trust people. She motioned for him to walk with her since her time was at a limit right now. "Come along, I'll take you for something to eat real quick. I bet you haven't eaten since you got off the ship."

She led him to the corner food stand and ordered a pork bun bento. "Here. You can eat on the way. I'm sure Unolan will be so happy with you being a competitor with us." She looked to him as they walked. As they arrived near the arena, she held out her arms. "Ahh, welcome to my home away from home! The Pro-Bending Arena!" She looked to him, "I bet you think this is weird huh? I'm sorry if I've made you uncomfortable." She was blushing at this point, afraid he wouldn't go ahead with the plan.

She just had to go and mention food, Korroh had done so well in not thinking about it but as soon as she brought it up his stomach growled in response. Between that, the promise of being a Pro Bender and her natural charm, natural charm being another name for her well toned behind in this case, Korroh followed her quite willingly. Happily chowing down on his pork buns while he snuck a few more glances at her buns.

He had just finished his pork buns as they arrived at the arena, and what an arena it was, it dwarfed every other arena he had fought in through sheer size alone, not to mention just how grand it was. The place even managed to distract him from the lovely sight he had been watching the whole way there, well, whenever he thought she wasn't looking anyway.

"I bet you think this is weird huh? I'm sorry if I've made you uncomfortable." Korroh looked at her and smiled, she was cute when she blushed "Urisa, this is weird, no question about it. But you didn't make me uncomfortable, being lost in a strange city made uncomfortable, you fed me, kept me company and now may be about to get me in to the Pro Bending ring." He placed his hand on her shoulder "you have nothing to apologize for."

He pulled his hand away and clapped his palms together "now that that's out of the way, I have a third teammate to meet and we have a game to win." With that he continued on toward the arena entrance, his earlier skepticism clearly replaced with a healthy dose of eagerness.

"Great!" she exclaimed as she led him inside the locker room. "Unolan! I found the one!" she announced before a tall scruff-haired young man appeared before them. She led Korroh over to the area where the Waterbender equipment was. She pointed at the logo on the front of the helmet.

"That's the Foxcoon logo. We're the Republic City Foxcoons!" she said as she did a motion that resembled a creature. She blushed again realizing that she was acting like a ditz. "Heh heh, sorry again," she said before she noticed Unolan coming into the locker room.

"Who is he?" the Earthbender asked pointing at Korroh. He had a foxcoon pet on his shoulder as he walked into the locker room.
"Oh he's the new waterbender. I think he'll do just fine," Urisa said as she smiled.

The Bending arenas exterior was impressive, the interior, less so, more spartan than the lavish front for the public, to Korroh though, it was all amazing. He was used to dingy backrooms that the organizers swore no one would steal his bag from while fighting, if he was lucky there would be a sink to wash up in after fighting, compared to that this place was like a palace, it didn’t even smell bad.

As hard as suppressing the urge to gawk and gush like a rabid fan was, when Urisa did her little Foxcoon pose Korroh ended up struggling far harder with the task of not bursting in to laughter, the best he managed was restricting himself to a smirk. Needless to say he was ever so thankful for the distraction of Unolans arrival.

“Name's Tashi” Korroh lied once again, smiling and shaking Unolans hand as he did without even a hint of hesitation, it had been quite a while since Korroh had introduced himself as Korroh. “And don’t worry, I may not have had any experience in a pro bending ring, but I can splash water at people with the best of them. So then, how long until the game?”

Unolan looked to him with confusion, his pet foxcoon moving around on his shoulder. "Tashi huh?" he said as he looked to Urisa. "Where did you find this guy?" Urisa smiled as she looked to him. "Oh, I was on my way here when I bumped into him. Is there a problem?" Unolan huffed as he looked to the guy again. "I'd have to see his style. And since we only have an hour until the game, we might now have that long. Why don't you take him to the other locker room and get him a uniform that might fit."

Urisa saluted in a funny way which made her friend roll his eyes before she turned back around to the waterbender. "So, follow me this way and you'll be able to fight. Perhaps you can even show me a few moves while we wait to go on the battlefield." She led him down the corridor as she walked into a room that was a bit smaller, but more for a single fighter. "Here ya go. This should fit you better than that old one." She handed him a helmet and a uniform.

The colors of the uniform were black and tan, with the foxcoon emblem on the arm patch. "I hope it's okay. Now how about some demonstrations?" She was so pumped to see what this guy could do. She also hoped that he would be good enough to help the team stay alive and not be sidelined permanently.

Again Urisa almost had Korroh laughing, she just looked so cute in her little mock salute to Unolan, though Korroh couldn’t really fault the mans skepticism, 'I found him randomly on the street' doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in those of the sane persuasion. The idea of showing off a few moves though made Korroh a little worried, what if he screwed up, what if he was horrible by their standards, he knew the rules of the game kinda well from listening to radio broadcasts, but he'd never read the rulebook, what if he got them disqualified? But... that’s what the demonstration was for, so they could figure out those problems before the game, that way if Korroh made an ass of himself he would at least be doing it in private.

"Here ya go. This should fit you better than that old one." Black and tan weren’t really Korrohs best colors, and personally he preferred his arms free when bending, but there were probably regulations against skipping part of the protective gear, and asking them to change colors would have been a bit rude of him. "I hope it's okay. Now how about some demonstrations?"

“Yeah sure” He replied, only the slightest hint of nervousness creeping in to his voice “I'll just throw this on first” he added, grabbing himself a bit more time to get his head right “might as well practice moving in it while I can.” And with that he dropped the uniform down on a nearby bench before starting to pull off his clothes like he was the only one in the room.

As he took the clothes from her, she watched and nodded when he said what he did. "Oh okay. Sounds good!" She had a bright smile on her face and then she watched as he started to take his clothes off. Her face blushed bright red as she looked to him. "Oh gosh! I'll turn this way!" She was embarrassed because she had never seen a guy change clothes before. Not even Unolan. She spun around on the bench and waited for him to change. Every now and again, her curiosity wanted her to look at him. She peeked over her shoulder a few times, but before he might look to her, she turned back around.

"So...You're from the Southern Water Tribe?" she asked, trying to make conversation. "Pretty interesting there, huh? Have you ever met the Avatar? I hear he's from the Southern. No one has ever seen him for certain so we don't even know if he's around." She knew that she must be sounding like an idiot. She had actually wanted to meet the Avatar since she was a little kid and her mother told her about the stories. But alas, she never had. She finally turned around to look at him, "Great! They fit! I knew they would.. How do you like them?"

It hadn't occurred to Korroh when he was changing that there was anything wrong with just doing it in front of Urisa, it wasn't like he was stripping off completely, his underware was going to stay on. Her reaction to it though was enough to get the point across that the way he was doing things was perhaps not the way they were done in a proper, professional and not blood stained locker room.

Nothing he could do about that now, so he just got changed as quickly as he could. When she started striking up a conversation though he suddenly found himself wishing he had waited for her to excuse herself "no, I left the south at a young age, so haven't met the guy no." Korroh answered a little too hurriedly, he had grown quite adept at spinning a good lie together, but not when the word Avatar was involved.

Conversation after that was thankfully nonexistent until Korroh was fully clothed, and had shifted subject by that point, well away from anything Avatar related. "Well, they fit, but they kind of bunch up in a few places" He said, doing some stretches to try to get a better feel for the outfit. "And the helmet it a tad loose, so I'm going to have to be careful that heads shots don't knock it out of place" to emphasize his point he smacked himself just off go the side of his forehead, causing the helmet to shift about and all almost block his vision "should do fine for tonight though, hell, the places I used to do this kind of stuff at didn't even have protective gear, so we're still a step above them. "

Urisa smiled as she looked to him. "Oh sure, we'll have better fitting ones later down the road. So no worries.." She felt something within her awakening that she had never felt before while looking to him. She stood up and walked over to him. "So, show me what you've got.." She sat back and watched him as she looked him over. Urisa was feeling quite different now that she had seen him without clothes even for just that short moment.

Unolan came in with urns of water and hung out in the corner. "Here, use these to show us some of what you have to offer in the way of fighting style."

Time to show his moves, Korroh was still nervous, but determined now, the thought of going out in to the ring for the first time, and the horror that he would screw up was feeling oddly distant to him, it was still there in the back of his mind that he would choke, but right now, looking impressive for Urisa seemed incredibly important to him for some reason.

“Ok, fighting style” Korroh mused to himself as he went through his regular stretches, then with slow motions assumed a rather lax stance completely lifted the contents one of the urns in to the air with another slow movement of both his arms, like the slow back and forth of the morning tide and quite frankly, not looking for a moment like what someone should be doing in a fight. “First I'll need a target” with more slow and dance like movements he split the water in to five tendrils, moving them all past him to form a strange stick figure at the other end of the room, one tendril for the body and head, and two for both the arms and legs. Now Korroh closed his eyes and suddenly moved to an actual combat stance, the stick figure he had created turning to ice and copying his movements to stand at the ready, Korrohs eyes opening again as the stick figure finished its transformation in to a mirror image of himself, if somewhat crude looking.

“Now for the fighting” Korroh quickly fell in to an evasive fighting retreat against his immobile target, giving a few feet of ground as he sent small blasts of water flying across the room with quick jabs, each one clipping the target and sheering off layers of ice. Then as he neared the urns he switched to offense, using an orb of water on the floor as a springboard to launch forward, gaining a higher vantage point from which he fired off a quick volley at the targets legs, even managing to shatter one of them before he landed quickly and dropped in to a crouch. Without missing a beat he fluidly continued his assault, sending the water he had used as a springboard over his head as a hammer blow that punched right through the targets chest, then sending one last blast with a jump kick that knocked the poor targets head off.

“So what do you think?” He asked as he dropped the stance and turned to see how Urisa had reacted, turning his head to see Unolan as well as a mere afterthought to the question “Any good?”

Unolan leaned against the wall and watched with good intentions as he then glanced over at Urisa. She was watching more intently than he was. "What is it with that girl?" he thought to himself.

Urisa smiled as she watched him bend the water around and make it into an ice model of himself. His movements were fluid and very good. Everything was going well. She watched as he finally finished making the moves and flexed a bit before taking offensive on the dummy before him. His attacks were quite good as she watched him. Her heart was soaring from seeing the spectacle before her.

When he finished and asked that, she looked to him. "That was amazing! I think you are our guy!" She looked to Unolan who nodded and left. "Game in 30 minutes. Be ready."

Urisa got up and walked over to him. "So, the way this works, if you do great during the actual performance, then the manager decides to keep you on. That would be great in the end for us. What do you think?"

This time it was Korrohs turn to blush a little as Urisa complimented the performance, Unolan was less impressed, but Korroh wasn't really paying that much attention to him anyway, he didn't even notice he had left the room when Urisa started explaining the next step of his recruitment. "That sounds great" he replied as he took off his helmet and subsequently mussed up his hair in the process, the helmet was comfortable enough to use but still not something he wanted to have on for too long.

"So what now though?" he asked, looking around the room as he did "we have half an hour to kill before its game time, whats your usual pregame prep?"

He was asking about what she does before the games that she takes part in. Her face blushed as he asked about her. "Oh um...Not really anything." She moved her hair out of her face. "It seems that most stuff that I do is not really normal. I just usually hang out until it's time to get onto the platform for competition."

I smiled at him as I looked to him. "So, what do you do? You said you've competed before." I was more interested in him at this moment. I didn't know why but there was something about him that intrigued me. I walked towards the door of the locker room. "Let's take a walk while you tell me."

That was true, Korroh had competed before, just not in pro bending, he had competed in illegal underground cage matches. He should probably mention that before the game, but, how would Urisa react to that, would she reject him for being a criminal? And why did he suddenly care so much about the answer to that question?

"Sure, a little more movement in these shoes would help" Korroh did his best to put a lid on that line of thought and fell in step close beside her, any further across and their hands would be bumping with every step. "As for what I did before a fight, well" Korroh hesitated "promise you won't laugh... I meditate" He finished in a low voice in case someone was eavesdropping "I know it's kinda silly, but it helps."

Urisa's eyes lit up. She knew there was something about this guy, but she still couldn't put her finger on it. "Meditation huh? No one really does that nowadays. Well, no one but the Airbenders on Airbender Island out in Republic Bay. That's really cool though." She continued to walk with him out to the bending arena main stage. "So this is the big area! What do you think?" she questioned.

She bumped her hand up against his as she watched his eyes show excitement. Her face, in return, showed embarrassment. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bump against you like that.." Urisa was shy around guys and had never really had a relationship before. Was she feeling love for him? She shook her head at the thought. "Hell! We just met!" she screamed out inside her mind.

The arena was everything Korroh had imagined and more, it was even enough that he was so distracted that he didn't get a bad taste in his mouth when she compared him to Airbenders. Not to say Korroh had something against Airbenders in general, there was just one that he didn't like. Urisas hand bumping in to his quickly replaced his awe at the arena though, was she about to take his hand?

No, she pulled her hand away and Korrohs look of excitement turned to a more embarrassed one, or course she wasn't trying to take his hand, they barely knew each other. "Its fine, don't worry about it" Korroh tried to play it off as insignificant, but as he talked he noticed that Urisa looked just as embarrassed as he felt, had she thought he was going for her hand? That was way too much for him to have to be thinking about so soon before having to fight.

"Anyway, lets make a bet" Korroh said with a grin, doing his best to push the last thoughts he had to the back of his mind. "Winner is the one who pushes more of the enemy team of of zone, looser buys dinner" he held his hand out in offering, the irony that he had almost freaked out about her hand bumping his and now he was offering to shake hers was lost on him though "What do you say, you game?"

Urisa could tell the look on his face was one of angst as she said that about the Airbenders. Did he have something against them or someone? She shook her head clear of the thought as he mentioned the bet. "Oh, um...sure! I'm game!" she said with excitement as she took his hand to shake on it. She was less hesitant this time around when they touched hands. Her face still felt warm with embarrassment but nevertheless, it was a good feeling.

"So, I'm going to go get ready. The crowd is already arriving. Better get ready," she said with excitement in her voice as she went off to go get ready. She was certain that he could find his way around this area now. She went to the locker room and was startled by Unolan behind the door. "Oh crap, Unolan! What are you doing?" she asked covering herself up.

"Seems you have a liking for him, huh?" he asked before he headed for the door, already in uniform. Urisa smiled for a minute because she did have a feeling for the new guy then shook her head, "How can I?! I just met the guy.. Silly Unolan." She finished getting ready as he walked out the door with a smirk on his face. The game was nearing. Soon they'd be called out to duel. They would have to win, she didn't want to buy dinner!

Korroh wandered briefly, enjoying the simple feeling of finally being here, before heading back to the locker room to do some final prep, namely to meditate for a few minutes so he could center himself before the game. He may have hated remembering his childhood, but he knew the lessons he had learned then were invaluable to him in situations like this, a focused mind was a deadly tool to a bender of any kind.

The results of Korrohs meditation though, did not exactly result in a focused mind, turns out as soon as he closed his eyes his mind went straight to the task of conjuring up images of what he imagined Urisa changing in to her uniform looked like. Some images are hard to clear from ones mind, and since the first step of meditation is clearing ones mind, it obviously want going well.

“What are you doing?”

Korrohs eyes snapped open at the sudden question, which turned out to have come from Unolan, who Korroh had no idea how long had been there “what do you mean?” Korroh quickly asked back in a somewhat guilty voice, as if Unolan could somehow tell what he had been picturing in his mind moments before.

“Were you... meditating?” Unolan asked, looking quite puzzled by both the meditating an d the way Korroh had reacted to such a simple question.

“What, is a man not allowed to meditate in his own time?” Korroh replied, putting on his best offended tone and rising to his feet as though he had been somehow insulted, and by the utterly confused look on Unolans face it was working as intended. “Now if you'll excuse me, I have a game to get to” He put on his helmet and quickly left before Unolan could snap out of it and ask more questions. About half way to the ring Korroh realized he could have just said 'yes, I was meditating' and everything would have been fine, as opposed to what he had done, which was make himself look slightly insane to his new teammate.

Urisa finished changing into her uniform. She looked in the mirror, tucking her hair into the helmet. She continued to do her stretches as she always does before a match as to ensure that she won't get cramps or be unable to fight normally. She turned around and shot out three fire blasts at the metal practice dummy, before she turned back to the mirror. "It's time," she said with a smile after doing her pre-game exercise.

She walked out to find Unolan leaving the locker room where Tashi was. "Hey," she said waving at him. "What's been going on in there?" She was curious as to why he would be in there.

"Oh no reason," her friend said before turning to give his pet foxcoon, Lio, a treat. "Just checking to see if he knew how this type of stuff goes.. Seems he does.." He continued on to head out to the main center of the arena.

Urisa looked confused as she looked into the locker room. She was about to speak when she heard the announcer come over the intercom. "Next match is between the Republic City Foxcoons versus the White Falls Wolfbats!! Stay tuned fans, it's going to be one helluva knockout!!"

She turned to see Tashi standing there, "That will be us. Let's head out!" She turned with a blush on her cheeks as she walked with him to the staging area. All three of them were heading out there and stood on the elevator that would take them up to the platform. Urisa looked to Tashi standing there. "Good luck guys! Now let's kick some Wolfbats out of the ring!"

No more delays, it was game time, and Korroh was one big bundle of nerves, nerves and inappropriate thoughts about one of his teammates, what could possibly go wrong? As they reached the top of the elevator, Korrrohs jaw dropped at just how many people were there, the stadium was packed, why did his first game have to be in front of so many people? Why couldn’t it have been a slow night or something?

The round one starting bell rang and Korrohs reflexes kicked in, dropping him in to a defensive stance as he kicked at the floor grate before him, sending a quick gush of water in to the air to blind whoever was in front of him, and much to Korrohs delight, it worked, the stone disk went wide and missed him by over a foot. The fireblast from their middle however, hit him square in the side, knocking him on to the ropes, where a second stone disk slammed in to his shoulder and knocked him in to a roll that ended in the next zone.

5 seconds in to the game and he had already lost a zone, things weren’t going so great.
