Avatar question

I have tried to put one in, but for some reason it isn't sticking. I have it on my computer, it says I can get it from there, but when I hit submit, it isn't popping up in any new posts.
What am I doing wrong?

Avatar pictures must be smaller that 15o pixels in the longest dimeension, and less than 20Kb.

If it's to big, I don't think the avatar upload tells you, it just ignores the upload.

Try attaching it as a file to a message and see if it shows up that way.

When I shrunk it down, it don't look as nice as I wanted, so I'm off hunting for yet another.
If only I could find that one type I want. On a mission now. lol

attach the picture you wanted to use. There are several of us who have Paint Shop Pro which does a better job of shrinking pictures than many other programs because it has the choice of three different resizing modes.

I'm sure that you'll have at least two different resized versionss to choose from after we save, shrink, and reattach the picture for you.


You might want ot check out iFanview. It's a freeware program that is pretty good at resizing if you use the "resample" mode to shrink pictures.

Harold, I tried to shrink it, but then the details were not as good.

Needless to say, I ruined the picture. Thats ok though...it was somewhat, but not really, what I was looking for.

I'll attach it though so you can see what I meant by ruining it. I suck...lmao

OH, I chose this pic because ironicly, her face looked so much like mine. Her body on the other hand.....well........my dreams!!! LOL
Used to have that before I had a kid. I'm getting there though.

If you can find another copy of the original picture, Paintshop Pro can do a much better job of shrinking it.

It can almost recover it to good enough for an avatar with the soften filter, but working from a larger picture that isn't distorted would work better.

I found it, and put it back on my computer, but its too big im sure to put on here. I'll try, but if it don't come through...thats why.
Also, when I wanted it as an avatar, I got it from a site that has them free downloads...but I thought that if I put the pic in here it would auto size it. I knew it was a huge pic, but wasn't thinking it would only take it as the size it is.

If it is, you can hotlink it with the IMG tags.

The format is [ IMG]<url_of_the_picture>[/IMG] (without the space between the first square bracket and the rest of the string. It shouldn't have any spaces at all.

I had to also go with the black and white outfit...goes with the name. I was looking for one with the white tiger ligere (sp), but its hard to find. Her hair is almost identical to mine.

Most of the time was download and upload time. Actually resizing the picture several times only took about five minutes -- PaintShop Pro is fast, especially on a Pentium class computer (even a laggardly 450 Mhz machine like mine.)
