Low-Functioning Autism, as opposed to High-Functioning Autism and Aspergers.
LFA = Rainman
HFA/Aspergers = Einstein
Actually HFA/Aspergers describes a good number of the residents of the AH, yours truly among them. Not that all of us are Einstein's of course. And there is a lot of evidence that Alf wasn't Aspergers. Bill Gates, on the other hand, definitely is.
I myself am getting determined whether or not I am one. So uh... yeah.
I know it's not certain whether or not Einstein had Aspergers because he died before there was ever even a diagnosis around. So eh, it can be conclusively proven either way.
There are several tests online that give you an idea.
You don't think I've done all of them? Look, you're not going to bother to get the diagnosis if you haven't bothered to find all of the tests available and memorise the test's multiple results.
Well, then, you probaly already know what the diagnosis is, no? It's not like it's a red A on your shirt or anything. It's simply self-knowledge which, as the Greeks believed, is the beginning of wisdom.
True, but when you're already going through intensive psychotherapy, you're kinda looking for a light at the end of the tunnel, which is the diagnosis and getting more appropriate treatments.
Hmmm . . . mine is mild enough that I'm merely odd. People can live with that and so can I. If it's more severe, treatments can be a challenge. Good luck, old alien.
Ah, loved it! Shanglan's story is great, too. Made me think of this brilliant web comic that often features variations on the theme, like this:
