Authors watch out, 9erotica.com are stealing our stories

I don't know if I'm writing this warning in the correct place, but I've discovered my work has been stolen, and submitted to 9erotica.com.

They have even included my stories in their android app, which includes stories from a few other sites too from the looks of things.

On neither their website nor the app, do the original authors get credit, there are no links to the story page here or my profile page.

It's theft, plain and simple.

Yeah, I found this site a while ago. Dropped a couple of comments on mine that they'd lifted, pointing back to my website.

All of mine that they've listed are under my author name, and aren't too badly formatted. Whole chapters are included, rather than just the first page. None of the author notes are omitted - most of which point back to Literotica. The website isn't swimming in malware and appears to be ad-free.

*shrug* I just decided that this place was reasonably acceptable and worthwhile as free advertising. They posted nothing but middle chapters of long series, with easy enough ways to find the full stories on Lit, considering the mentions of Lit in my author notes and my pen names being there, spelled correctly.

That's a good idea putting mentions in your author notes.

I'd not considered doing that, and neither have most of the authors who've had their work stolen too from the looks of things.

Thanks for the reply / advice.

I tend to start all of mine ( when I remember ) with something like this:

This story is Copyright Darkniciad. If found posted anywhere other than Literotica.Com with this note attached, it has been posted without my permission.

Most of the story-stealing sites use bots to lift your stories, and those bots lift everythig as-is. So, if you point back to Lit, the poor saps suckered into reading the badly formatted and incomplete versions on the site can at least find the rest of the story if they enjoyed it.

( and on a site that isn't a potential risk to your computer as well, which many of those sites are )

Having your stories lifted from Lit is inevitable, and ongoing. This is one of the least offensive of the sites I've seen, which is why I didn't bother looking up the host information or anything to send a complaint.

If you really want to be depressed, take a unique sentence from the first paragraph or so of any story you have posted, then put it in quote marks and search for it on Google.

If you visit any of the sites where you find your text, I would advise checking it with an online link scanner ( if you don't have one installed as part of an anti-malware suite )

Even if the site checks out in the link scanner, I would still recommend using Firefox with the Ad-Block Plus and No-Script plugins on top of your normal, sensible anti-malware protections.

Thanks, Dark. I just installed them. I love Firefox! No more IE headaches for me:D

That's unfortunately one of the prices you have to pay to reach a readership as large as what Lit offers.

If you do a comparison between Lit and the other Google top-billing erotic story sites, you quickly see the difference. Bare minimum of double the traffic, and about 4x the traffic is the norm ( for those that even show up in Alexa rankings )

Lit actually ranks higher than most of the camgirl sites, and that's saying something.

If you're putting your story in front of that many readers, you're unfortunately putting it in front of a lot of thieves as well. Can't be helped. It's the internet :p

I just got a message from PrincessErin that they've been stealing my stories. What the fuck ?

I don't know if the site is still up and running, but yes, your name was there. Several GM authors were listed, too. Don't know about other cat's.

The more I look, the more of these sites I find - I guess they just see Lit as their own little strawberry patch:

www.xaijo.com - This site's 'Stories' area is 100% stolen Lit stories (some people have had issues with bugs from that site, so be careful). They also run a rather massive Twitter empire - one main twitter account (@xaijo_gallery) with 50+ dummy accounts to re-tweet your stories out to the world.

www.free-sexstories.com - I've not bothered to dig around too much on this site, but they helpfully have an entire section labled 'Literotica', so guess where their stories are lifted from?

Help

Ok so my problem is not like most of y'all but I written original stories of mine on there but can't login, search for them, nothing. I really just want my stories back so I can post them on another site that actually works and is legit. How do I go about that?

You didn't keep copies? If so, just post them elsewhere. If not, I guess that's a lesson to make copies.
