I received some good news recently.

I've been invited to appear at the Indiana Authors Showcase at the Indiana State Fair in early August. From all reports it's a great way to not only sell books, but to expand a network, which I seriously need to do. I was invited by Tom Doherty, who owns a book distributing company in Indianapolis, Cardinal Publishing Group. (His father is Tom Doherty Sr., the founder of Tor Books.) He came to speak to our writer's group and gave me the invitation. What's even better is that he has expressed a tentative interest in distributing my book. He's crunching numbers and seeing if it is feasible with my current method of publication, POD.

I confirmed my intent to appear at the showcase yesterday and already today I've done two phone interviews with newspapers. I'm hoping for even more. Being self-published it's hard to get the word out. This should help quite a bit. I'm pretty excited. :)

Holy shit, that's awesome! Guess I'll have to go to the state fair now, just to check you out! :D

I'll look forward to seeing you there. make sure to say hello. My window is rather small, though. I'm scheduled to be there on Thursday, August 11th, from 1:00 to 3:30 pm. I don't know if they'll have me hang out any longer than that.

Dammit, I'll be working! hmm, maybe I can work it for some time off that day...

Thanks, Imp! :)

Sunnie, that would be great if you have the time to be there. If you can, you know where I'll be.

<---------- I look just like that guy over there, so you'll recognize me.

Cudos! PR good and bad is amazing, but PR with an invite is best, :D especially from a person who thinks as highly of you, as you do of them. Much luck -Be friendly - even to assholes, and meet people - even assholes, lol :D

It is so true though :| :rose:

Great news Boota! Remember, sometimes it's the assholes who can get you where you're going...

Thanks everyone!

I've been pretty lucky so far. I haven't had to deal with any assholes in the marketing of this book. Not in person anyway. LOL. It pays to be scary looking. :)

Awwww... way cool. Many congratulations. :rose:

Knock um dead.... sometimes it only takes a small crack to get your foot in the door...

Thank you!

TxRad, I know what you're saying. And that would be a different approach from my usual kicking the whole door in maneuver. :)
