PETE DEXTER is a writer I stumbled over this year. He was a 'paperboy' for many years then cranked out novels for 20-plus years. Like William Styron his writing is excellent and no one's ever heard of him. His books are filled with strange, scary characters who likely are real people; they remind me of people I know and knew.

PARIS TROUT, Dexter's 3rd book, is a Georgia sociopath and serial killer with a law degree. You'll try to read the book in one sitting because its a circus-horror show that never stops.

THE PAPERBOY, Dexter's 4th effort, is about 3 reporters and a do-gooder who try to save the life of an innocent man on Death Row. Its as wild as PARIS TROUT with plenty of cynical observations about newspapers and reporters.

Dexter will keep you entertained. I just ordered two more of his novels: GOD'S POCKET and BROTHERLY LOVE. GP deals with crazy people, and BL is about Philadelphia organized crime.
