Just curious what people do when they have a drawing of a character and would like to reference or link it in the story.

You can't seem to embed images, and you don't seem to be allowed to post links, and you aren't allowed to reference or suggest that there are links on your profile. (where links are allowed.)

I realise this site is quite strict but you can upload images directly to Literotica's own image gallery. I can't think of a reason not to be allowed to link to that in a story no?

Well, maybe there is some non-rulebreaking way people are using I don't know about. If anyone knows I would appreciate the info

There's an entire category for illustrated stories. https://www.literotica.com/faq/05238710.shtml#06028542

I haven't tried myself, but I think Laurel will allow illustrated stories to post outside the Illustrated category by request.

Huh, not sure how I missed that in the faq, not enough coffee I guess. Thanks that's perfect.

Emailing the image seperately with instructions where to place it in the story does seem a little archaic in 2020 but if it works it works I guess 🤷*♀️

Way back when, I posted an illustrated story. I just put them in the story where I wanted them inside the word doc and attached it to the submission form. It worked out perfectly.
