I have a question for all you other writer's out there. It seems that most writers and stories on Lit and most either fall into the Literary/Romantic types or Raunchy/'jerk stories' type. I have written stories that can fit into both. The ones I have posted now are kinda in the middle, but I have many more I plan to post and I feel like if I post some of the stories I've written that are more just pure... porn, and the one I have that are real in-depth pieces that I'll throw some readers.

Any one else have a split personality like this?

I never worried about anything like that. I just write what I want to, and if it ends up being one type of a story or another than I post it where it belongs and lable it as best as I can so that the corresponding audience has a chance to find it and enjoy it. it could be romance, stroke, or pure bizarre. It still gets the same love and affection from me.

Jeanne D'Artois and I often argue about who is the dominant partner in the split.

Then there is Fag-Ash Lil who is a character in one of Jeanne's stories.

Even as Og my writing isn't consistent. It can be very short i.e. 50 words or very long or forget to include a full stop - Breathless Stargazing or very bad - The Worst Chain Story Ever Ch.01.

I write across the board here, from nonerotic inspirationals (usually at Christmas time) to bi and GM fetish. I don't know if that throws off many (or any) readers who normally look for my name to pop up on a story (which it normally does every Thursday)--because none have commented on it. It's an interesting question, though, that I wouldn't mind seeing discussion on either. I don't get the high volume of reads, votes, or comments that many others here do, but I get favorited a lot and am comfortably located on the "favorite author" list. I have my full share of zap trolls, but I attribute that more to the "forum effect" than to anything in the stories themselves.

In the paying world, I do notice that my high-volume sales are limited in scope to certain narrow categories.

Depends on whether you are trying to "Build a Brand" or exercise your imagination?

Some people like different things at different times. If you are scoring 4.3 or there abouts, you're average, according to the last analysis I saw. Not an average writer, but an average Lit Author.

I don't know if the scores are very meaningful, except in a rough sort of way, but they do give an author a guide.

I've watched myself evolve over the years, from strokers to more complex erotica and now, into a wider range of subjects with less emphasis on sex and more emphasis on other human needs. This is more difficult for me, and more satisfying, and then i go write a stroker for quick fun ;)

Yea, I have a couple stories here on .lit and some 'articles' - that is non-fiction/opinion up at another site. I won't go into their stuf except to say they do pay, but you have to 'drum up readers' and 'rate other author's articles'. They aren't particularly interested in fiction. To date, I've earned $0.61 with ummm 5 articles - not enough to even request a payout ($25.00 minimum).

As far as my fiction, the stuff I post to .lit? I write what I want to. period. Sure, I'm trying to gain experience, understanding and technique. But my stories are what they are. If readers don't like them, they're invited to tell me why. Absent some constructive feedback, my general attitude is "Fuck Em!" They are what they are, And anonymous in Canada isn't going to affect my life one iota with his/her comment "I don't get it" Even if s/he did leave the same comment 6(six) times.

Yes. I have stories in a variety of categories. Some of them even have a plot.

We don't have to write just sex

I think that sexual content is the price you pay for being published here at Literotica. However there is a category for non sexual stories where you could try out your John Grisham side if you would care too.

There are ways to practice your writing skills while writing sex stories. You could write very good sex stories with character development and a solid plot.

I think too much to write pure strokers. That's probably a handicap. Does that turn off readers? I give a . . . ! I write for me. If other people like it, I get all warm and teary-eyed. If they hate it, they shouldn't read my stuff. Easy. Write what you want.

My equivalent of writing a stroke story is to draw a pornographic picture -- I can get pretty carried away with the shading. I use a Wacom tablet and do most of the stuff in Photoshop. Some of the stuff is very raunchy, lots of blood, metal, torture and semen usually.

That leaves my writing pretty much porn-free (and therefore reader-free).

Porn Free, free as the wind blows..

I use writing stories to this site in somewhat the same way. In my mainstream writing, I found urges to push the envelop flowing in. So, I started writing erotica separately. Doing so helps keep it out of my mainstream work. Not all that much in the way of blood, metal, and torture, though.

I like well-written stories with plot and great sex. When I think I've managed that, I submit here. When I don't I post elsewhere or not at all.

And all my romantic stuff ends up in poems here that pretty much no one reads, except for the other poets who post here (who are awesome).

Keep writing what you like, the best you can and have fun.
