Australia, Tuesday 28 January. The news organisation today ran a poll which overwhelmingly condemned the proposed U$ action against Iraq.

By 14:40 hours, 21,768 posters had answered the question-

Does the U$ have just cause to wage war against Iraq?"

YES - 8,024 (37%)

NO - 13,744 (63%)

Meanwhile unconfirmed reports have Oz Greenpeace organising a world boycott of American products whilever there is any suggestion of a U$-led war in the Middle East. A list of corporation targets is being compiled to include corporations supplying genocidal chemical and biological weapons to the U$ military plus other U$ corporate icons including CocaCola, MacDonalds, KFC, PepsiCola, Nabisco . . .

Preparations for the February 15 March Against the U$-Iraq War are proceeding slowly and being completely ignored by the corporate media . . . The startling consequence of the present war-mongering is the number of middle class "Mums & Dads" who are mobilising against the war. Much of their concern is created by the LACK of relevant explanation NOT given by the Prim Monster . . .

Comments as the passion takes you.

In 'What the Papers Say' this morning...

all mainland European newspapers come out against the war.

Despite the lone pro-war folks on Lit (I think there's about 5 left now) America and the UK (shame...boo...shame) are being steadily isolated...

Puts Blair firmly in the shit...

Only what he deserves though...

frothing at the mouth while Aussie war ships steam towards the gulf.

No one care about the Aussie G'day peace now attitude.

Your PM (whom I admire) has decided to join the right side of humanity and leave the pond scum that is leftist European thinking.
Our PM is a total fucking idiot... And I don't think the USA are the "Good Guys" with whats going on.

"There is more then one way to skin a cat."

But after Iraq is liberated, and supplying more oil to the world (including the Euro's) everyone will forget the peace movements.

And in 5 years time will concead that it was the right thing to do.
In 5 years time, if this war doesn't kill us all, most of the planet will be destroyed... Look at history, wars get worse as time goes by. WW2 had the USA droping 2 Nukes on Japan, what will happen this time?

And if the US haden't nuked.

How long would the war have gone on? And would it have cost more lives in the long run?
The USA Nuked 2 Citys, which I say is worse the Hitler and what he did.

Well it is hard work trying to bring a touch of reality to the indoctrinated masses in the US that Iraq is no credible threat to the security of their country that would justify a pre emptive strike. WMD arguments are political bullshit, its been around for 10 years, why dredge it up now??

THe answer lies deep in the inner circle of the GOP.

Hanns - true enough...

The victors get to write the history books...

But you're thinking Western values here...

I can't see the Islamic countries or the terrorist groups sharing your point of view.

Saadam is contained now. He can't make a move without the rest of us knowing about it. He knows that and everyone else knows that.

Any invasion will only increase acts of retaliation on US and UK soil and on our global possessions...

As the world has been saying to Bush for so long now that we are beginning to thing that he is the monster he's often depicted as being...

There is no need to go to war...

True.

If Iraq has to disarm, so should the USA.

I love these lines of misguided thinking.

Look at what the USA goes on about standing for - FREEDOM

And what are they proposing???? To trample some god forsaken wasteland for a spurious political position to mask their greed because they want access to the oil there.

What fucking hypocrites!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hitler started a war that killed more than 50,000,000 people and probably was directly responsible for at least 10-15,000,000 directly as head of the German government and military.

You should crack a history book sometime.

Okay , then let's just call it a draw.
:D

You can call it a draw, I call it about a 49,800,000 person difference in human lives.

:)
And I call it as the largest war crimes of the 20th centry. USA has become power-hungry, and i think alot of countries will be agaisnt the USA before this is done.

already the USA is gaining enamys over there, and it wont be long before the USA will no longer be the most powerful country she is, and when that happens, Bush will go down in the histroy books just under Hitler for war crimes, and murder of innocests.

Am I wrong, or right; only time will tell.

You know what I think is funny? People will say 'majority rules' when it suits them, and 'screw the majority' when the majority goes against them.

What does any of that have to do with the atomic bomb?

Bush, just under Hitler on the mass murder scale? Let's see, that would make him a greater mass murderer than Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao, any of the dictators of North Korea, Idi Amin, Robert Mugabe...Saddam Hussein himself has probably ordered a half million killed...

Forget the history books, you don't have enough common sense to understand them.

And exactly what adversity is America involved in?

If you're talking about the invasion of Iraq that's of Bush's America's own doing.

You're the aggressor...

You know what's sad? You Americans think your right all the time. Can't you just accept that maybe you were wrong, or are wrong?

You're right about Hitler and that in the history books. I admit I was wrong sayng Bush would be right under Hitler; but my point was and is that he could, and probably be in that list, if he does invade Iraq... At least be open-minded enough to accept other countries opinions.

Sure, Iraq probably has WOMD, Is it wrong? Yes it is. Should it be delt with? Yes it should. Is war the only and best answer to solve the problem? No it is not. As I quoted above, "There is more then one way to skin a cat."

The USA has WOMD, so does Russia and other countries. What country has used a WOMD? The United States of America.

Will the USA invade Russia to destroy the WOMD? Or should Russia invade the USA for the same reason?

So now I'm wrong simply because I'm American?

And exactly what have I been wrong about? Please tell me, Yoda.

Don, say what you like about John Howard, but he's a strong and principled leader who sticks to his guns once a decision has been made. Which is exactly what a nation needs in times of adversity.

I can't see any public opinion poll swaying his decision.

And, no, I'm not a Liberal voter.

What if his decision is wrong? Does he still stick to his guns? Just curious...

That isn't what I am saying.

I'm trying to say to you that bush and the USA may be wrong about all this, and may be the "Bad Guys".
