It's almost offensive to exist on this day. No matter what race, colour or creed. Almost.

Almost is one of the worst ways to be at any time.
 
I feel a little tired. As far as Australia goes I never think about it unless I run across a news item like the one this morning where a wallaby was picked up in the city and returned to the Outback. I mean, man, y'all live exciting lives.
 
meh. i prefer new holland. it just has a better ring to it. also, it makes me think of beer that isn't fosters.

I've been shit. My sister would have been 50 a few days ago. Fucks with me head.

Australia Day has reminded me that I have a copy of the Annual Register for 1788 - giving all the major events in the world for that year. The Annual Register was published in the following year for a couple of hundred years and this one was printed in 1789.

Years ago (in 1988!) I sent another copy for 1788 to my old school in Melbourne. They still have it in their library.

BUT - the Annual Register for 1788 does not mention Australia or the First Fleet at all. Why would it? From the perspective of England in 1788 no one knew or cared that the First Fleet had left for Australia.

I have more relations in Australia than I have in the UK.

We never hear from them on Australia Day. They're too busy at the barbies.
 
It's too early for National Nude Day so I guess Australia Day will have to suffice.
