Ok so I haven't been on social media for like two weeks and I Rarely see the news. Too much bad stuff on there. So do we have to register for postal voting for the plebiscite vote?
And truly i can't understand why we have to do this when if we vote yes. It still goes to parliament to be voted on and if they say no it's a waste of 120 mil when it could be spent fixing roads/hospitals/education or putting it back into aged care where we as nurses are suffering to provide essential services for the people who defended and made this country what it originally is/was because the fed government took funding away from us this year.

Haha that's my say. Happy Saturday
And go Bombers ⚫🔴⚫🔴⚫🔴⚫🔴

If your enrolled on the registry at the right address, then no you don't. If you have changed address then you need to fix that.

Wrote this on my FB page the other day so I agree with you.

"I feel so strongly about this that I have to say something and I don't often comment politically. In my time I have made a lot of gay friends (I am not), and they were no different to any other person I have known. I know I have both friends on the right and the left, but I would ask you to look at the fact that they are people and deserve the rights of any other person. To subject these people to a 3 month debate is wrong, to spend 122M is wrong and the point is they already know what the result will be. So why is this happening and please do not tell me they don't want to break an election promise, that happens all the time. This is being done for all the wrong reasons and it really does affect my sense of community and looking after those more vulnerable. Please make sure that your vote counts."

Unfortunately it's got a lot more to do with internal party politics than any desire for social equality. Tony wants a fight. He'd like to think that he could be Prime Minister again but even the nervous Nellies in the Liberal party don't believe he could be their saviour again... but what if he turned around the No case from what most believe to be a losing position. Polling has his own electorate 70/30 for the Yes side.

For Malcolm, he's now pitted Tony head to head with Bill Shorten in a fight. It's a fight where Tony will be relying on his conservative base, the very thing he has been complaining about the liberal party moving away from. If Tony goes down 60/40 it puts a big hole in his argument that moving further to the right will save them at the next election.

As for going straight to a parliamentary vote, despite what a lot of the media are saying a free vote would be a very close thing. You cannot underestimate the influence of the Catholic Church on the right wing of the Labour Party.

The only reason we're having a plebiscite is that neither political party has the balls to make a decision because a lot of their major supporters/financers are fundamentalist/conservative.

In other news only 42 days until my annual Fraser Island fishing trip. (Not that I'm counting.)

Don't mention the footy!

Pity about the Bombers.... Carn you Crows

Friday night is looking like the game of the year and can't wait. Hard to call a winner here, maybe the Crows just because it's their homeground?

Not entirely true, Labor cannot get a bill through the house of reps, so they have no choice. They have consistently said they would call a non binding vote if they could. When they were in, they didn't have control of the senate and Abbott said he would make all Libs vote no or face expulsion.

The crows are looking like the team of 97/98 I know different players but the whole team contributed back then and are doing so now...however I never expected us to win. I'm overly happy with the way they stood up, how fast the game flowed, and how better our goal scoring was compared to other weeks, when we had won.

Section 44 is the part that just keeps giving! Barnaby, oh how very amusing.

Seems a dotty rule for a country dominated by immigrants but there you are...

Ah hum...didn't somebody post some thing about no more footy talk? Naughty...somebody might need a :caning:

Then again, we can talk about footy again :nana:

My team lost whilst I was up in Qld for the weekend. Then again they did lose to one of the power house teams from Victoria so I shouldn't be too surprised.

Yep it's a damn stupid rule which the pomes invented but even they had the sense to change it many years ago. Surprisingly that rule doesn't apply to State Govt ministers. Silly that we have two different rules for the same thing.

Funny how the Libs now deem it not applicable in Barnaby's case and Malcom has instructed the courts on how they should rule on it...could be construed as politics interfering in the law, thought that only happened in undemocratic countries. A slip of the tongue perhaps on the govt's part.

Afternoon all,

Got back late yesterday from my long weekend in Toowoomba. Very warm up there compared to Melbourne, mid 20's, and apparently higher temps than they normally get at this time of year. I mean it should be Winter up there. The nights were lovely and cool though. They haven't had any decent rain for while. The countryside looked very dry.

The place has changed a lot since the last time I was up there, late '80's, that's right last century. Managed to catch up with friends and their kids some of whom are all grown up. Where did the years go?

Flew with Airnorth, direct flight from Melbourne. They were excellent, first time flying with them, would recommend them to anyone. The service onboard was excellent as well. Reminded me of how QANTAS used to be. Will be going back for a longer stay in the near future.

Horrible to see the scenes from that protest in the US. Rump just doesn't seem to have any empathy for anything except his own empire. He just can't relate, then again those wankers are part of his supporter base. Funny how the US went to war against those ideals, now their President has given them encouragement. Certainly not the America I recognise from my many visits.

There isn't winter in Queensland! If average daytime max temp is 20+ it ain't winter!

I can be there at Fraser Is if the numbers and room allow for one more.

Hi all hope your all well
Has anyone heard how warrior queen is doing
Cheers

Hi there :)
I'm recovering well, but had a couple of days where I was so tired I pretty much slept all day and night.
Walking more and feeling much more comfortable.
Thanx for thinking of me :rose:

Yep I know there are only two seasons in Qld, wet and dry. Winter is my way of saying it's cooler. Made the mistake of going up to northern Qld in the Summer, will never do that again.

I noted that it has cooled down after I left, although I must have brought some of the warm stuff with me cause it was quite humid in Melbourne when I got back. But it's raining and cool again, so the world is back in balance :D

Hey there sexy

We're always thinking about you. The main thing is that you continue to improve. No issue with getting lots of sleep, just don't fight your body. Rest up.

Afternoon all,

Well it's Friday and yep it's still Winter here in the south. The wind is back and so is the rain. Discovered yesterday that some the Spring flowers are out early. One of the roses is already blooming. Possibly the humid weather earlier in the week.

Sorted out the photos from the trip. Meeting up with friends after a long time was good. Have it as a goal now to revisit them on a more frequent basis since all of us aren't getting any younger.

Got the refund from the tax yesterday, very happy with that. Didn't quite believe it till I saw it in the bank account. Can now start making plans to spend some dollars on the house.

Thoughts are certainly with those impacted by that hate attack in Barcelona. Those who have been to Barcelona will know The Ramblas. First time I saw what is essentially a mall in the middle of the street. Worst thing that could happen to you back then was getting your wallet stolen. Is a magnet for pick pockets. Hopefully they find the arseholes who did this quickly. Like cowards they ran away afterwards.

On a positive note...it's Friday...for those still working. Happy not to be anymore.

Hope your weekend is a positive one. For anyone in Melbourne the Home Show is on in the city at 'Jeff's Shed', local term. We didn't like it when it was first built by the Lib govt at the time headed by Jeff Kennett, deemed an arrogant prick by many.

That's good, without order there is chaos!:D
