Just came across an ad for Aurore, a non-fiction(?) erotic fiction subscription based site. They prefer “based on true story” female-centered, slow burn, non-rough non-violent and first person work. They accept short form 1,000 to 3,000 stories. They pay for submissions, and offer a paid “writing course” conducted over zoom. I can’t recall if anyone here has dealt with them before or what their experience was.

It looks like a rehash of the above-mentioned Penthouse Forum and also the myfirsttime.com site from the early 2000's.

In short, not worth $69 per year.

From a subscriber's point of view, they're only promising one story a week, usually 1000-3000 words.

From a writers point of view, I didn't actually see them say they paid for writing, but maybe they do. Whatever you write is supposed to be non-fiction and it will be edited to their standards.

I see no reason to think they aren't real, but I'm clearly not in their target audience. I'm also not going to write for them. If you are in their target audience, them maybe it's worth it. Consistent, high-quality erotica is hard to find. There are a few sites that specialize in providing exactly that, but at a cost.

Non-fiction erotic fiction... Am I stroking out?

Sounds sus though. I'm not sure why is "non-fictional" erotica the emphasis of the site. Maybe it's not out of the ordinary, but if I wanted to read something closer to a real erotica, I would either pull out one of my Henry Miller books, or read the Miller that hangs out around here.

Nevertheless, not for me either. Even as a writer. The way I think, live, and breathe doesn't even fit the "diverse" group they aim for. Still belong to the samizdat.
