Heading down to Augusta in about a week and a half, and I'm wondering if I could get some local opinions of some good ways to spend a few days there. I'm definitely up for anything outdoorsy if the weather is good. I saw there was a museum or two in the area, but that's not really my thing, unless there's something MUST SEE in there.

If you are looking for something outside you can walk along the riverwalk.

If you want to travel a little out of Augusta, Hitchcock Woods is one of the largest urban forests in the US. Lots of good trails to walk. It is in Aiken, about 30 minutes from Augusta.

Plenty of good restaurants and bars in the area.

Enjoy your trip.

The food in the South is fantastic, so make sure to hit up as many restaurants as you can afford.

Ask the locals, they will steer you to the good spots.

Summer it has been a while since been there but there is a little place on broad street thats just a little hole in the wall, but if you like really spicy cagin flavor in your food there is a place called Nacho Mamma's. It's a few blocks away from the James Brown arena, where thet have concertss and hockey games. And also the master's golf tournament will be starting in a couple of weeks too. So hotel room's are gong to be hard to come by unless you have made reservations all ready.

You could drive on down to Savannah and check out River Street. I'm not a fan, but pretty much EVERYBODY else is... But then again, I'm not a partier.

Other than that, nope. Nothin'.

I have to go to Augusta next week for work. The Boilweaval (I think that is how you spell it) is down town and delicious. There cakes are the BEST I have found.

My problem is I can't find a decent hotel. Did you find any decent ones?

Sorry Froggy, I'm staying with family, so I didn't have to look for a hotel. Hope you have luck in your search.

I like the desserts at Boll Weevil, but I'm not that crazy about the food. My new favorite in Augusta is Roosters Beak.

nacho mama's is great and so is the Boll Weavil. Enjoy your time in Augusta.....most locals run and hide during that week!! Lots of fun places to drink downtown and in the Washington Road area. PM me if you want to know more.
