ATTN AUTHORS: If you've received an email from EGO requesting stories

Thanks KM, I had the email up on my screen when I went looking for a post regarding this - I fear clicking on unknown links, and I'm suspicious of those who seek to get something for nothing by stroking MY ego.

Not to mention that it's wrong, in my opinion, to jump start one's website off of someone else's years of hard work, namely the owners of Lit.

I pinched your reply and tweaked it a bit, hope you don't mind. It ended up looking like this:

*****

No, you may not post or publish my material in any manner, nor fix it in permanent or semi-permanent form, in whole or in part. I retain all rights to my stories, electronic or otherwise. I will not permit my stories to be posted outside of specific locations with whom I have an agreement. I reserve all rights to these stories under US copyright law and the Berne Convention.

VeraGem

EGO

As did so many others, I, too, received an e-mail from EGO. Then, in an attempt to click the non-consent link, I clicked the consent link. Not certain what the outcome of my stupidity will be. I DID, finally, click the non-consentlink so have no idea how that little screw-up will play out.
I did follow-up with an e-mail plagerizing VeraGem's message *Thanks VeraGem* and even had sense enough to substitute my user name for hers. I will be interested in knowing how all this plays out.

Repinching...

I did follow-up with an e-mail plagerizing VeraGem's message *Thanks VeraGem*

That's OK with me - if it's OK with KillerMuffin who wrote the original...

Apropriate response dor EGO

Thanks VeraGem and KillerMuffin. Finally found the KM post. I missed it earlier. Anyhow, I'm indebted to both of you. Thanks for providing me with an appropriate responce for those jerks [That jerk?]
Be interesting to see what comes of all this. Does anyone in the rest of the world give a d*** if someone in Russia (or anywhere else) steals material copywritten in the US?
Justin

yes i give a damn...

copywrited material is just that, copywrited.

the trouble is, from what i've seen and experienced it's very difficult to police. does that mean the law is an ass or the policing of the law is an ass?

EGO

God, I hit the wrong link too! I also got this email and instead of clicking no, I clicked yes, then I clicked no again. Shit, what a mess I'm in...I intend to email them personally, giving them a firm no. I do not agree with the tactics these people are taking. As far as I'm concerned I'll never be on their list for future stories. I pray the outcome of my stupidity won't cost me. I'll have to keep a watchful eye and see if anything transpires.

Check the thread link I posted. There's an update by Manu that you'll enjoy.

They've got someone working for them inside of Russia to shut this guy down. Apparently again. It sound very CIA, but they're getting this issue solved.

EGO

I got the same email. I thought it was strange because on the list of stories was one that I had submitted but was denied. I wrote to Laurel about it asking for her opinion but I haven't responded to the email from EGO.

what is this EGO?

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT DOES EGO MEAN? DO THEY STEAL YOUR WORK FOR THEIR GAIN? HOW TERRIBLE!

EGO

Hi!

I had saved that email and went back to look to see if I could help you. Sorry, but I don't really know what the initials stand for. I do know that their address is at a place called ego.net, which is probably why it's called EGO.

EGO is supposedly a website that is under construction and will have erotic stories. Laurel had told me that it was a scam and a spam and that this person had somehow gotten the email addresses of the writers.

I'm sorry I was unable to let you know what it stood for.

I have no problem in having my stories sent around the globe read by anyone out there, I keep an underlining godless Marxist message in all my writings. I have a secret left wing agenda in which I use porno to make my message. Did anyone get the anagrams in my last story? Anyway-I e-mailed the EGO crowd and asked them a few simple questions before I consented. Such as what relationship if any do they have to literotica? Apparently none. Although an honest answer would not make me give them a "No" response. Other questions-Will this be a private site or a public site? If it is a private site will I get a free password as a contributor? Etc. No one responded. It was the same as my e-mails to Laura, who doesn't respond any more either.

I, too, got the request from EGO to use my Literotica work. Rather than say either yes or no, I asked for more information about their planned web site. Specifically I asked if it was going to be a pay web site or a free web site. I have no objections to posting my writing on a free access web site if I do not get compensation. However, the second the web site starts making a buck off my effort by charging people to read it, I want my share. I made it clear to EGO that I did NOT give permission to use any of my Literotica work at their site. I asked for a reply to my questions and to this point have not received one.
