Piyoth was feeling tired. He had marched for the last 3 days, without a pause. He wished he could have brought Goliath, but the animal would only make him more visible.

The istmus was close. No more than a couple of miles; no more than three hours walking and they would reach the peninsula border with the continent. But there was still to meet the others.
Piyoth was surprised when he received the orders to march northeast. News was heard that had happened an invasion near the istmus in Athalantian ground but he hadn't expect this kind of situation.
Skirmishes were common on the borderlands. With the Lyrann - the wall of stone that encircled Athalantis - almost finished on that strategic point they had been becoming more and more common trough the last few years. But never were more than that - minor confrontations and small raids. And even more surprising, instead of a call to war, this was to be done. Intriguing.

Piyoth pushed away these thoughts as he started to see in the distance the crowned towers of the Tarann, the mountain ridge that defined the border line between the peninsula and the continent mainland. It had been a long time since he had been there. Under the dawn sky, the mountain peaks sparkled as jewels.
Now it was only a matter of time until the rest arrived. He knew not who they were but for the kind of assignment that was to be fulfilled, they had to be specialists.
Smiling to himself, Piyoth walked back into the forest behind him. There was a small underground shelter near; he would wait there for his comrades.

The shelter was very near. No more than an arrow shot away from the tree line. Leaning against each other, 6 large boulders stood erect between the massive trees around them. Anyone that was not an Athalantian would look at it and consider it no more than a pile of rocks.
A large massive root had already grown between the rocks. Thick carpets of moss covered the ground, the boulders and even the lower part of the wide tree trunk.

Piyoth neared the south most end of the formation, next to the tree trunk, were the root crossed over and between the rocks. The boulder there had a depression on its side, resulting from the natural breaking point were the stone broke from the rock bed. Piyoth pressed a point on the depression and the entire rock moved to front and upwards, revealing a stair pit carved into the ground solid rock.

Reflecting the sunlight on its hidden polished base, the boulder chained a reaction that made small jewels embedded in the shaft walls start to glow, getting brighter as they absorbed the light. The shelter was awakening from its long slumber; it seemed as he was the first to arrive. Walking down the stair, Piyoth pressed the locking mechanism inside the shelter to close entrance.

After opening the small breading hole, which would fuel the jewels to full charge and let some fresh air in Piyoth started the fireplace on the center of the room to warm up the space.
Taking off his mantle and weapons to hang them on one of the beds, he sat near the fire. Now it was just a matter of time.
