Melia had been correct in thinking she was going to feel the full force of her night with Zach the next day at practice. Even relaxing in a hot bath that next morning hadn't helped her any. Still, she had to suck it up and move on with things.
The week both seemed to crawl by, yet by the time Friday night came around it felt as if no time had passed. Usually her nerves were relatively well under control, but she actually felt nervous about tonight. Not only would Zach be there, but it was rumored that a scout would be watching.
She had left a ticket at the box office for Zach. That way he could see the show without having to pay for it. She didn't feel right inviting him to something like this, and then him having to pay seventy dollars for a ticket. She could remember high school. There was no way she would ever have had the money to afford it.
Backstage, she was warming up. Stretching out her muscles, she chatted with a few members of the chorus line. Finally making it back to the dressing room, she double checked her appearance. The one thing she hated about dancing was the stage make up. She couldn't stand the feeling of a gallon of make up caking her face. Once she was out and dancing, she would forget about it though.
Hearing the curtain call time, she let out a long sigh and made her way to backstage. Seeing her "Romeo" she went and waited by him. Their company was putting on the ballet version of Romeo and Juliet.
The lights in the auditorium dimmed, and the orchestra began playing.
Show time.
