I driving along today minding my own business and the speed limit. A fucking LLbean boy in his Cherokee roared by and cut in front of me (I was in the right lane) and then zoomed around a truck in the left lane. The truck boy got pissed and they began to race each other. The result was both hitting black ice and ending up on the median. That is fine but the thing is they hit two people and forced four more into the ditch with their ego antics.

FOR THE LAST TIME I DON"T CARE HOW BIG YOUR TIRES ARE IF THEY ARE ON ICE YOU WILL SLIDE.

Thank you for listening

I've said it before, and I've said it again.

SUVs kill more than they protect.

Hockey pucks slide on ice. SUV TIRES DO NOT!!!

Get it in your head!!!

:D :D Shoot me please

Never fear

Some people are just born to be idiots.

Any car can go off the road. Any type of vehicle etc. Even machinery that people use to scrape the road can too.

DRIVE SAFE PEOPLE! I'M SURE SOMEONE IN YOUR FAMILY STILL LIKES YOU.

I've said this before:

The reason they call them "off-road" vehicles is because that's where they are after a big snow.

Stupid fuckers.

People with SUV's think they SUV's will climb freakin Mt. Everest in addition to the above. They also think should they piss me off in my little ole Accord so bad that I should have a fit of rage and fire semi automatic weapons at them that they're freaking SUV would just not be penetrated by the ammo I shoot at them after they freaking cut me off because they are too freaking busy talking on their freaking cell phones and everyone will get out of their freaking way because they are bigger than most.

Well, I hope each of them who feel that way wind up in a ditch and no one helps them. :D

Damn, for some reason I feel better now.

*back to the game*

Pounding more steel studs into the tires of my 4WD Chevy Pickup, Suv's are for sissies.

:D :D :D ;)

However, when your SUC does slide around on the ice and crash into other cars you have a better chance of surviving than the person in the Bug you just crashed into.

Of course, no one would get hurt if the SUC just stayed off the road but I'm just trying to curtal the God-Given American freedom of drivign in a huge gas-gozzeling vehicle so don't listen to me.

I've totally given up on ever being able to see more than one car length ahead of me on a highway ever again.

Maybe I'm a minority, but I drive an SUV, but not like an asshole
Gingersnap, I hope you stopped and gave your eye-witness account to the Police so they can "punish" the two idiots. It's a good way to do your civic duty and exact a little revenge.

I'm new to the whole SUV thing, I've had mine about 9 months. I almost ended up in my neighbors front yard a few weeks ago due to the ice on my road. I was going about 15 mph and was attempting to turn into my driveway, only I keep going straight. All this with traction control and anti-lock brakes. However, I've driven the last five winters with a real wheel drive truck, so I am used to being extra careful and drive the Jeep the same way.

Gingersnap your story sounds so much like my local area. I'm form Utah, we can have some harsh winters here with sizeable amounts of snowfall. Every year during the first major storm there wills be tons of accidents similar to what you describe, people who beleive that because it says 4WD somewhere on the vehicle they can go as fast as they please. And every year after the first storm the UHP will be on all the local news asking for people to just slow down. Unfortunately it's almost a seasonal tradition here.

Hey Chuckus

I'm just trying to imagine how well your Honda would pull my boat or horse trailer. If SUV's are so damn dangerous, with a Suburban, two pick-ups and a Jeep Wrangler in the driveway, isn't it amazing that I haven't had an accident in over 20 years. Well... then again.... maybe I have..... it's kinda hard to tell when you run over a Honda..... :D

Now Now Texan is your vehicle and SUV? I mean a Suburban and Jeep Wrangler are............but the pick-up trucks are not.

I hold no grudge towards them for their intended uses nor when the people driving them use them for their intended uses. It just pisses me off when some dumb fucker driving an SUV thinks he owns the road because "I have an SUV" well guess what fucker? Keep laughing, I am dropping in the clip ~ we'll see how well your SUV does with four flat tires, won't we?

Hell I used to have a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Tahoe, but I drive just like I do now only higher up. Still the same courtesy and general consideration for others.

and as a matter of fact, my Honda pulls Jet Ski's just fine.:D

I had a similar experience last night on my way home from the football game. When we left Pontiac, the weather was decent and the roads clear, but as we travelled westward, the weather, and the roads gradually deteriorated. It started with flurries in Ann Arbor, and got a little worse the further west we went, until by the time we reached Jackson, visibility was poor, and traffic had slowed to 45 mph on the slick highway. Intermittently, we'd get passed by a vehicle travelling about 60 or 65 in the fast lane (most other vehicles were all in the slow land, driving cautiously). This happened 4 or 5 times, and each time causing my friend Randy to say, "there's an accident waiting to happen" or "he'll end up on the side of the road before long". Each one of them was an SUV. As we approached Battle Creek, about 20 minutes after the last one of them sped by us, we saw an SUV in a ditch on the side of the road. It was the first of three within a quarter mile of each other. One of them had rolled. Fortunately the occupants of the one that rolled had all been wearing seatbelts, and no one was seriously hurt, but two of the passengers, were the pre-teen children of the person driving the vehicle. It just made me wonder.....

and for the record Texan, I have not had an accident that was MY FAULT in 17 years of driving. Some stoopid asses in SUV's who were talking on their cell phones that already couldn't walk and chew gum were behind the wheel of a vehicle that was way to large for them to begin with...............:D

(by the way Texan, I did detect the sarcasm in your thread.......my venting is not directed at people who drive their SUV with the same courtesy as those who do not drive SUV's ;) )

I feel so validated. I thought I was the only one who had a deep prejudice towards SUV's and their drivers. Hardly a day goes by when i don't have some asshole in an SUV tailgaiting or cutting me off or doing something else selfish and obnoxious and dangerous. Maybe someday I will understand the psychology of these idiots and have some compassion. Hopefully before my gun accidentally discharges.

Driving an SUV has nothing to do with the behaviors described in this thread!

I drive an SUV, one of the smaller varieties therof, and I see this sort of bad driving, racing in hazardous conditions, road rage, tailgating, and all the rest in everything from beetles to buses.

Some of the stupidity does indeed come from an unfounded confidence in 4WD, but MOST of it comes from the fact that people just don't understand enough physics to know that anything accelerates better than it stops.

I assume that every third car is driven by a drunk. The two in between are a Damned fool and a homicidal maniac. Every tenth is all of the above.

Very little that other drivers do surprises me that way.

I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and I see a lot of dickheads in SUV's,but to be honest, I see a lot of them who aren't in SUV's too. Most of them seem to be from downstate with snowmobile trailers behind them. MOST people up here know how to drive in the snow, but sometimes I think that people with that 4WD light on in their truck seem to think it is an invincibility shield. I have a 4WD Isuzu Trooper and I am more careful when I drive in it than when I drive my Ford Escort.

I concur, people in cars are just as guilty. Maybe I just dislike people who drive like maniacs, I mean I drive fast but I am courteous (to a point). :D

I resemble that remark. :D

I am not talking about the drivers who are sensible. I am talking the Bloomfield Hills asses with their ski racks and expresso makers and the VCR in the car. BTW we are talking black ice here coupled with whiteout conditions. THat is when the stupid SUV drivers turn pro. My objection is that they take out the innocent with them. So blaze ya yuppie and here's hoping the tow driver gouges you on the price of pulling your ass out of that six foot drift.:p :D
