Is a thick skin a requirement to post here? Let me know, I've been holding back and remembering my manners. If I can rationalize my behavior away by insisting that you just need a thicker skin to put up with me, that'd be cool. I can significantly increase my AH enjoyment at your expense.

Blast away KM, it's usually fun watching your rants, raves, and general destroying of the weaker people.

Runs....

Uh oh, now you did it. <Pees in pants>.

If this is going to turn into an asshole hangout, I shall think better of investing in a new filter for my gas mask. :(

Did I miss something? You're not going to tell us what you're talking about are you? We're supposed to know already, aren't we?

Am I involved? I often am. I'm very dense though, so if I'm invoved you really have to spell it out for me. Seriously. Otherwise I have no idea what you're talking about here.

Go for it.

If this forum is a hangout, then you should be able to freely speak your mind, shouldn't you?

Oh by the way, I found Lancie Pants a fractious yet amusingly delightful romp. I really did.

<Where's the suck up emoticon?>

I really did.

But would it be real enjoyment, a sincere coolness, and an objectified rationalization?

Not to post, just to put up with the replies. The downside of free-speech is that every asshole gets to voice their opinion.

You're allowed to be offended by people's replies, just not to object to people making them. That is merely censorship in another form.

You could maybe try it. You never know, it just might work out.

Not me.

It reminds me of that Rorshoch or whatever Nebulous Guilt Game we used to play:

He: What are you mad about?
She: You know.
He: No I don't.
She: Yes you do.
He: No I don't, tell me.
She: If I have to tell you, then forget it.

The subtext is pretty clear, Dr. M.

There are no references to anything outside this thread implied other than the general assholey behavior more than a few of us have been engaging in as of late. If you don't have a problem with that, then don't have a problem with that. If you do have a problem with that, then have a problem with that. Feel free to say something. Feel free to not say something.

At the risk of getting slammed:

There does appear to be two opposing sides on several things on the AH: Dr Mabeuse versus all comers.

Can anyone tell me if Dr M's done something specific to deserve all this vitriol or is it just him in general?

Feeling I'm missing a subplot,

The Earl

I do love that freedom of expression we are entitled to engage in. Is someone trying to stop that?

This is stupid. I recognise stupid: I've been there; I've been there often; sometimes I go there on holiday. It's not a bad place to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there.

Perhaps there is a real discussion here fighting to get out. If you don't have a problem with that, then don't have a problem with that. If you do have a problem with that, then have a problem with that. Feel free to say something. Feel free to not say something.

It's a long-winded way of saying nothing much at all, isn't it?

Actually, I kind of like what you said

Like Ed, the Sock always says: "If you've got nothing good to say, say it often!"

I love this little stick man. Gabriel, don't stop tooting.

And just to be utterly clear, I am utterly sincere (in an utterly platonic way of course).

Thanks for the breath of fresh air, GL, the AH needs it badly these days.

affectionately, Perdita :rose:

Dear Quaz,
Does Ed the Sock really always say that? Who the heck is Ed the Sock?

This is true.

Freedom of expression comes with responsibility. Can't legislate responsibility and Lit doesn't try to.

The real discussion might be the tone we, as a group, set in this community. Is "asshole" the scent we want to prevail here? Sarcasm is only funny to the insiders. Rants and raves are only funny if you're in the ranter's clique.

I'm in no one's clique here. One of the outsiders of the core group, as it were. I'm just known. One of those people that's been here long enough to be immune to the usual outsider kicking.

I see what happens to the new people who show up and don't appear to be of the same sort of biting wit that the core clique prefers. They get the cybershit kicked out of them and they have a negative Literotica experience.

I don't think cliques are bad things, by the way. I think they're good things. People need friends. However, when it comes to authors thinking negatively about Literotica because of the way they're treated here, that is not something I like very much. Authors running other authors off of Literotica is really like spitting in your host's face.

However, you are right. People here should feel free to be assholes. That's what Lit's about.

As someone relatively new and still getting acclimated to the boards, I'd just like to say that the argument over in the "Drugs" thread between Dr. M and svenska (sp?) really kinda scared me. I mean, free speech is one thing, but I saw the beginnings of a major feud there, something that might have seriously soured the entire board. I post here to relax and have fun. That kind of rage is NOT what I want to see.

And yeah, I know that if I don't like what I see, I can just not look. And I'm NOT reading that thread anymore. But what happens if that label starts to apply to the entire board?

And now I'm going to go hide before someone turns my words against me. :p
