Ask me anything about what it was like to have open heart surgery and recovery. I had a quadruple bypass at 48. I'm now 51 and feel great.I had only been married to my wife for 10 months when we found out.

Because maybe I can help someone who is having a similar experience and you could learn to be less of a complete dick.

Did they harvest veins from your leg? If so, how does the leg deal with that?

Yes. Two of the veins were harvested from around my calf and foot on both legs. To this day I have numbness around my lower left leg and ankle. I'm not sure where the other two veins were taken, but I assume my upper legs and they feel fine.

Thanks, I always wondered about that.

Quadruple ... What kind doctor can't get the bypass right on the first try?

About $186,000. I spent 5 days in ICU after and 10 more in the hospital. My insurance through a corporate health plan was awesome. I spent about 12,000 of my own money.

What symptoms did you have that led you to the doctor in the first place?

Ha Ha. Your so fucking funny.
I'm politely trying to tell you to all watch out. A simple loss of weakness in my left leg led me to Open Heart Surgery. I was only 48 at the time. If you don't want to ask me questions or learn anything, just leave me the fuck alone. I'll be glad to speak with other people.

A simple pain in my right leg. A feeling of tiredness after walking that would go away quickly after sitting. I,m 6 feet tall and 185 pounds. My leg just felt tired and dead.

His joke was actually quite funny.

Learn to laugh instead of the response you gave, above. Better for your heart going forward.

Had a triple-by, symptoms, shortness of breath after cutting half the lawn, in July, a cold drink didn't help, told the doctor, sent me to a heart guy, checked the veins/arteries, a bit blocked, after a snort of nitro, still tough breathing, so they went in and bypassed with a vein from my leg, said I have twenty more years, got about ten or eleven left. After the operation, don't sneeze for a week or so, have fun, they have it all down pat.
