I do some voluntary work for an organisation which identifies and brings in talented overseas students to study in Australia both as post and under graduates. When the A$ was worth US$0.55 we could get all the candidates we wanted.
But in the last two years the value of the US$ has plummetted so that the A$ is now almost at parity US$0.985. Because of the collapse in the value of the US$ American Universities are recruiting tens of thousands of additional Chinese, Indians and other Asians.
The US needs the Foreign currency these young people will bring in but I wonder how soon it will be before there are complaints that foreignors are displacing local students in schools every where.
Many Americans from my recent visit there seem to be unaware that the dollar devaluation policy of their government which has seen it fall by between 10 and 60 % against floating currencies will have significant social as well as economic impact.
Finally in order to fulfil the required sex content for new posts you may also expect sharp increases in the price of adult toys... and their batteries.
