Looking at ways to break the Democrat or liberal coalition of "diverse" groups, let's consider the Asian American vote. Today, 6% of the electorate is estimated to be Asian American.
This group's presidential voting trend is as follows:

While the swing over the twenty year period has been utterly stunning by any analysis, its important to keep in mind that the past two mid-terms, a majority of Asian American voters are believed to have vote for the GOP for Congress (51 to 49% for the GOP in 2014). They are also the group with the highest number of non-partisans or independents.
Clearly, this group is all over the map in voting trends, albeit with a clear gravitation to the Dems over time, with the exception of Presidential elections, they are not overwhelming in their Democrat leanings.
