Has anyone ever used AshleyMadison.com, and if so what was your experience? Is it a scam or does it actually help people looking for discrete relationships find each other? Either respond here or send me a PM. Thanks!

No - but...

I was curious. Created an account.

Upside - probably safer than craigslist - especially in regards getting spam.

Lurked for about a couple of weeks then left.

I joined. Like every other dating site, the men outnumber the women by factors of 10.
There are fewer fakes and scammers, so far as I can tell, but I've sent out 50+ messages with no responses. And I like to think I'm a well-written guy, and I'm respectful and honest.

Plus: No monthly charge; instead you buy "credits", which you use to either send messages or chat--chat uses them up much more quickly, so I avoid it. But you can spend your credits as quickly or slowly as you like.

Minus: The "attached" women seem to have unrealistic expectations of what an "affair" looks like in real life. I doubt that many of them have thought it through. I can't speak to the single women; I don't look for them. Too many possible complications there.

No matter what they say, they're still looking for someone successful, fit, and generous with both time and money--in short, they seem to want a "husband lite": someone who will wine them, dine them, and take them dancing. Kind of ironic for a site where the women are allegedly looking for something "discreet"--I can't think of anything less discreet that taking her out on the town for everyone to see.
