Okay, I want to include ascii art in my submission to mark the breaks between sections. However, I am not sure how it'll work with the font and size that lit uses. Is the font+size Arial 13.5?

here is what I want to use (its supposed to be 2 keys):

4 4 4 ,—. ,—.
d4o4o4assssssssd | | `bzzzzzzzza5o5o5p
`—‘ `—’ 5 5 5

Its for a fantasy/scifi story I'm about to submit.

PS Already gets mangled when the post is sent I see.

Lit's default font is Verdana 12pt. Like all variable fonts, ASCII art doesn't work well, if at all.

I doubt that Laurel will make an exception and let you shift to a mono-space font for that bit of artwork, but you can PM her with your request.

Yep, and you'll also have readers customising the display at their end or using reader software, either of which will break it. If the art is vital to the story you could convert it to a gif/png and post in the Illustrated section, otherwise probably better to leave it out.

Thanks. Not vital, just thought it'd add a little coolness to things. I'll rejigger it now.

Cool keys. Too bad. Yeah, multi-line ASCII art only makes it in a monospaced font. But maybe you could slip in some wingdings to build a key-like graphic.

Thanks for the suggestion Hypoxia. I decided to just go with sub-headings instead of the cool key ascii artwork. It won't be as cool, but them's the breaks.

Huh!?!? Wingdings are a font of their own, how is that going to help when the forum font is Verdana?
