From Associated Press:

Asbury Park, New Jersey-AP -- New Jersey's first same-sex marriage ceremony has been performed in Asbury Park.
In a written statement, City Clerk Dawn Tomek, calls it "a matter of fundamental civil and Constitutional rights."

She says New Jersey is one of 12 states that have no statute expressly banning same-sex marriages and that nothing in state law defines marriage as the exclusive province of opposite-sex couples.

Two men were married in City Hall after being issued a license by city officials. About ten people attended the ceremony.

Asbury Park officials say six other applications for same-sex weddings are pending

The sanctity of marriage is so not going to survive all of this. There are just way too many people expressing their love and lifelong committment to each other in a legal way. *nods*

/sarcasm :D

I don't normally read the comic "Get Fuzzy", but they sometimes put it in my college newspaper, and yesterday there was an interesting one that made me chuckle. The cat character was attempting to add an amendment to the constitution to ban ferrets and define a "family" as one person and one cat. Hmmm... sounds a bit familiar.

*shrugs* This thread just reminded me about it. Back to the thread.

asbury park is a great area..at some point down the road i'm hoping to move there. there is avery high gay population there. i have a lot of friends transplanted from the city there and avoin beach is pretty much exclusively gay.

plus the boardwalk at bel mar is fun!

You all realize this is a sign of the Apocolypse, right? First, the establishment of a one world government (the U.N.) then the rise to power of someone who seems to be the Second Coming but is in fact the Anti-Christ (Shrubbya) and lastly, all the HOMO-sex'shuls gettin' hitched! The End is nigh!!!

(The proceeding post was only a parody. Any seriousness percieved by the reader causing undue stress and anxiety, including taking any disaster preparedness measures, is purely accidental and solely the responsibility of the reader)

Belmar/Ass-bury

Belmar Playland is no more...Mickey sold the place and the town stuck some million dollar plus McMansions there! However, Asbury is getting better by the minute and living twenty minutes from Cookman is nice. Cum on down!

Woohoo! This is the closest to my home that gay marriages have been performed. Maybe I won't have to travel too far. :D
