"Michigan GOP Candidate Says Capitol Rioters Were 'Overcome By Passion'

I have little doubt that the vast majority (probably 90% or more), went with the intent of a 'peaceful protest', no matter how demented their thinking was. None of us has objection to that, even though we know they were wrong. It's what we do.
But there is also no doubt that a significant number went with criminal intent. They deserve the highest charges.
That leaves the middle ground. Those that went with intent to protest peacefully, but got caught up in the emotion and broke laws. Anyone that passed the cordons and especially those that entered the building, even if they didn't damage anything are also guilty and deserve charges.
