As Public Spankings go . . .

Yep.

It does seem, however, that a compliment like that from Shrub these days is akin to the Godfather's kiss of death.

As it should be.

Even my just-turned-18-year-old realizes how ridiculous our government has become.

How much longer will the circus be in town, anyway?

For a while yet I'm afraid, cloudy.

And considering the strangle hold the GOP on the voting process, through good friends like Diebold, as well its ability to make sure recounts etc come out in their favour, I suspect they'll still be in power after 2008 as well.

Europe.

Canada's right next door, and we're 'socialist'.

When the GOP needs a war Canada's far too easy a target. (joking, mostly)

IMHO this whole administration is a crime against humanity. I was shocked when he got elected the first time and when he was a second time I was ashamed to be American. What on earth was this country thinking?????????

I would like to hear the opinions of people from other countries...

Brings to mind a convo oldest son and I had yesterday. I explained about how Canada wasn't quite far enough away for comfort as far as gov't was concerned. ;)

Do you remember the website right after the election?

Was it "I'm sorry?" or "We're sorry?' Thousands of U.S. citizens holding up signs apologizing to the rest of the world for this idiot's reelection.

I need to find that.

I remember that! Don't remember where it was, though.

My opinion when they were first elected was to sigh and chuckle. Their whole campaign was a well executed series of obfuscations, lies and pushing the right buttons in a hypocritical manner.

But I wasn't worried. Such things have happened before in the U.S. It survived and thrived despite this.

When the planes hit the World Trade Centre I became frightened. It was an opportunity custom made for the anti-democratic people that filled the White House. And they took full advantage of it.

Al-Qaeda attacked the WTC to force the West, especially the U.S., into a classic liberation war. They wanted the U.S. to invade an Islamic country so Al-Qaeda could take advantage of the understandable anger such an act would cause. They also believed they could inflict the same type of physical and psychological damage on the West that was inflicted on the Soviet Union in Afghanistan.

And the Shrubbies fell right into it.

Worse, by breaking international law and invading another sovereign nation they've undermined the system that has kept things reasonably quiet since the end of WWII.

My opinion of the Shrubbies now is quiet anger. With their incompetent actions and blind ideology they've done enormous damage to one of history's great nations. Not to mention they're helping to unravel the multilateral world we've been working on building for sixty years.

History is not going to be kind to the Shrubbies.

Lets just hope that the other half of americans...the one who did vote for him last time...are smarter this time.

Don't count on it. I don't have much faith in people these days.
