Well, everything seems to be lining up nicely. Trumps most controversial nominees are winning over the Senate and barring some unforeseen surprise will most likely win approval. To say that their appointments will be transformational would be an understatement.
On the foreign affairs front both allies and adversaries are falling in line as well. Mexico and our new state of Canada (*chuckle*) are kissing the ring. Of all the silly things taking place Russia is putting tariffs on Chinese imports. Maybe that ‘strategic’ alliance isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Iran is quickly becoming a foot note in the history books. And while Iran’s dilemma is mostly due to Israel’s actions there is no doubt that Israel will be given the full backing of the US should Iran want to play silly games.
China is the wild card in all of this. Xi is still making noises like he’s in control of everything but I believe that is mostly for internal consumption. The key signal to watch here is whether Xi accepts Trumps invitation to attend the inauguration. The world is decoupling from China and they have way too much excess manufacturing capacity. So they are selling at or below cost and the government is subsidizing the losses just to maintain employment. That only works for so long because you can’t collect taxes from companies losing their ass financially. Most of the Provinces are so underwater financially due to corrupt real estate manipulations that there is little hope that the central government can save their ass.
All in all it’s looking bright enough that I might have to put my shades on.
