If the USA is to go to war, then let it be a decision that forces us all to consider the merits. Letting the Congress borrow to hire mercenaries lets us off the hook. The USA needs a draft and that should be a topic of this election considering it was the mercenary wars that were partly, but significantly, responsible for killing the economy.

They were wars that only benefited the 1%. Let them pay for them.

They are paying for them... With our money.

I am the 53%!

I'm embarrassed by our top Military commanders( O-7's and up) who are so into making that extra star, that they will allow thousands of their men to suffer and die, for no good purpose

There was no hope of Afghanistan turning out the way Washington wants it to, so why not leave?

Sending drones and mercenaries to war means that the less lives of US troops will be put at risk.

Most of the merc groups (like blackwater) are largely comprised of foreign military and special forces.

More of "our boys" will be coming home alive.

There will be someone along shortly to call you stupid...just wait for it.

It also lowers the bar of when we're willing to go in, same as an all volunteer military does. Our boys are coming back with both physical and mental trauma not to mention a bad economy and the bottom line is we don't care what happens to them because they knew what they were getting into. As Vette (and I'm amazed Fuckwaffle didn't chime in, maybe he developed part of a soul) will tell you they knew what they were getting into and they got into it voluntarily. They could have flipped burgers if they just wanted a job, could have been grounds keepers to serve their nation and community and could have taken out a loan to get into college. It's their own fault they come back fucked up or what not. That's just the general consensus. You can come back as I expect you will all pissy and talking about hero this, hero that but please show me how our veterans are actually being treated. There is a gulf between saying we care and support them and actually doing it and I'm playing the talk is cheap card.

I'm not a huge fan of mercs but I don't actually care if the rich want to hire morons to fight on their behalf let em. That's on them.

I number our boys, the "volunteers" among the mercenaries and not just the blackwater types. This "volunteer army" is a bunch of bullshit. Just because the mercenary was born here it does not make them any less of a soldier for hire. And I am NOT talking about the "poor" being the ones fighting and dying.

The US has always employed mercenaries. The Continental Army was a rabble until Von Steuben, a Prussian sorted them out.

Then there was General Rochambeau and his forces - not to mention the Comte de Grasse who bottled the Brits up at Yorktown.

All soldiers are mercenaries at the end of the day and there's no sensible reason to stigmatize them for that.

Drones don't win wars they only stop the other guy winning. You have to have boots on the ground to win and that means deaths. Frankly a nation that loses 11,000 men in ten years in Afghanistan but more than 10 times that number on its own streets needs to get its priorities in order.

I don't? I guess the IRS owes me some money then!

Can you take care of that for me?

Well you know you have to file those forms you can get at the post office...any of those with a 1040 on them will do, although for your situation the 1040EZ would be the way to go...it's actually a 1040 for dummies.

In order to get back what they withhold you have to file a 1040. I know it's a pain in the ass for people like you to do, but it's the only way to get back any monies withheld. Of course you had to have a job where you actually worked and got paid.

And don't forget to fill out the part of the form to see if you qualify for the Earned Income Credit...you may just get back more than was withheld...free money from my pocket to yours.

fuck a draft... last time the draft was up, i almost went.

I don't think you've spent a lot of time in the military because this thinking shows a lack of understanding of how things really are.

You are a fucking moron mike....IF blackwater/tipple canopy etc. has hired any foreign military they are extremely small in numbers and highly specialized. They have literally thousands of SOCOM operators, some of the finest warriors that ever walked planet earth right here in the us with the best training and real world combat experience money can buy. PJ's, SEALS, Rangers, ODA, Recon, AWG, 160th SOAR pilots etc. getting out of the military looking for work right here in the US and @ 120-350k for a 6mo deployment I assure you merc companies don't have problems in the employee recruitment dept.
