As a parent

I started wearing them when I was 15 so I wouldn't mind to have her wait until then or until she's 16.

It's kinda creepy you know this much about your kids underwear... Does your teenager not do her own laundry?

Wish I was your kid...

I buy the clothes and most teens do not do laundry. Hard enough to get them to clean their fucking room.

Fuck off squid

I'm not old enough to have a 16 year old daughter, but I know the problem. The reason she wants to wear sexy underwear is because she wants someone to see her in them.
I don't have a 16 year old daughter either obviously but it's not about wanting people to see you! There's more chance of being seen in a bikini on the beach or at the pool! So don't tar every girl that way!

Mine won't be caught dead in one but if she did want to wear one, then she can do it when she lives on her own and buys her own underwear. Since I buy all of her clothes and wash her laundry, she doesn't have a choice at this time.

Does everyone's parents really do their laundry!?

That is fucking awesome!

I've been doing my own laundry since I was like, 12 or so...

No I don't wear thongs anymore. I prefer hipsters now. They're really cute ^_^

And it's not about wanting to be seen in them (though I'm willing to bet that's some girls' frame of mind about thongs) it's about feeling sexy. If you think you look good, then it'll show, even if what's making you feel like you look good isn't visible.

I started wearing them just because I was a teenager and a box of clothes I ordered from a magazine somehow had two thongs added to it. I pulled them from the box and was like, "WTF? So I order so much clothes from this teen magazine and they send me free thongs? What kind of shit is that?" I thought it was oh-so-wrong and MUST have been a mistake, but I started wearing them anyway. Which was cool because a few months later I met the most amazing guy ever and we started dating and we lost our virginity to each other so the thongs came in handy haha!

I also like hipsters and thongs because of the whole panty line thing. I have a big butt which is not sexy at all and it's bad enough that it's obvious to tell I have a big ass without having panty lines accentuating it.

I'm having to wear stupid bikini briefs right now thanks to being pregnant so when I wear something that hugs my butt I have to pull the undies into a position to look smaller. It's annoying.

I've been doing my own laundry since I was 15 and my mom and I had an argument over her just going into my room and picking up all the clothes on the floor and washing them. When I had dirty clothes I washed them myself anyways so the fact that she was doing them was stupid. Not to mention when she did them she'd try to force me to fold them and I'm wondering why the hell I'm supposed to fold my clothes when I don't even have a flipping dresser! All I had was a closet. But then I never hung my clothes up either. I went through them too many times to waste time putting them on hangers so throwing them on the floor was much easier haha!

But I was taught how to do laundry when I was around 8 and would be made to do some from time to time.

That'll be my attitude when my daughter wants them. However, since her mother wears them, my opinion will probably count for shit.
16-18 seems early enough for me.

Yeah... my mom doesn't really do laundry. And when she does, she fucks it up- because she does it he laziest way possible, by throwing everything in together, putting it on cold, and forgetting to put soap in half the time. She also overloads the washer- bad, so she breaks them really fast. And every time she washed my clothes, they would have these holes in them, I have no idea, to this day, how or why, but they looked like Zombies got ahold of them. So I asked my granny how to wash clothes and she showed me, and I started washing my own. No more holes.

My mom never bought my clothes either- every year my Granny would get me like, $200 worth of clothes for my birthday (my birthday is a back-to-school holiday). We used to go to J C Penny but one year, they accused me of shoplifiting and forced me to empty my pockets- I was like, "We just spent $200- WTF would I STEAL that I could fit in my pockets that I wouldn't have just bought?" Then my granny sued the hell out of them. We got a fuck-ton of free stuff from JC Penny- did you know that they sell electronics and shit on their web site? I got a GameCube from the suit back when they were first coming out. It was awesome.

But yeah, when it came to underwear, I always got boxers; now I have, I think, 2 thongs, but I think they're uncomfortable, so I don't think I've ever actually worn them. Nothing like getting underwear with your grandma . I wouldn't have gotten thongs though, because I'm a guy, and I think, for some reason, that would have broken her brain. Also, I don't think JC Penny or Goodies sells thongs for guys- I DID get some shirts out of the girls section though, because they were fitted and I like that; and she didn't seem to care. I dunno, whatever, my granny's weird.

I don't see a problem with girls 14 and up wearing g-bangers.
Beats having an ugly pantyline under jeans!
It's more about that than wanting to wear them because they think someone else will get to see them.
Besides, at that age, they're more than likely to cop shite off other girls in gym class - for some reason girls that age think g's are slutty for the most part.

I was taught how to sort and stuff but my clothes aren't like designer or anything so I just throw it all in the same wash. The only exceptions are if anything white I own needs to come particularly clean or if I have a new pair of jeans that has a shitload of blue dye in them, then it gets sorted. But I wash it all on warm-cold.

The undies I wear have little elastic threads throughout them (which makes them 10,000 times more comfy than stuff that has just the one elastic band at the top or both the top band and then one for each leg hole) and they aren't supposed to be put in the drier. But I get tired of hanging them up to dry so I throw them in anyway and just am extra careful about pulling them on. They'll just fall to pieces after a few drier sessions if you just grab and pull them up.

But, they're about $3 a piece and I always like going and buying more because they come in so many different colors and are so pretty! I believe the Wal-Mart brand is Secret Treasures but the last I saw the brand went downhill and I hate Wal-Mart anyway so I buy the brand that this other department store sells, I think it's called B. And in the past three years they haven't changed like Secret Treasures has so they're still good.

Dads don't want their daughters seen in bikinis either.

depends on the teen.

vpl in, say, leggings will draw more arse attention than a thong nobody will ever see. if she's smart enough to not wear them with a floaty skirt then i see no issue.

14+

My daughter is 5. I would prefer she never wear them. In fact I would prefer she join The Little Sisters of The Poor and we hate men, somewhere deep in the mountains of South American. But honestly, as in all other things it will probably be her Mothers call. I will say 16, she will say 14, and in the end she will win.

My wife want to let her have a cell phone next year. I say wait till she is 12. I also would prefer if she do have a cell phone that it not have texting or picture capabilties....this is a battle I will lose. At what age do you think a child should get a cell phone?

In general I am screwed. My daughter loves shoes, purses and playing with mommies make up...FML!

I flew my 13 year old daughter over to Dubai to spend the week with me before her school starts. I am helping her unpack and I see the thongs. I asked her if her mother knows about these and I thought her a bit young. She rolled her eyes and tells me she is a big girl and stop being old fashioned.

I called her mother. Her mother was unaware and will be having a talk with her. She requested I let it be as it is something better handled by woman. I went out and bought appropriate underwear for my daughter telling her this was a Muslim nation and thongs at her age was forbidden. She bought my story.

If it was up to me she would not wear thongs until she was 30 and had a couple kids then I may just acknowledge my little girl is a sexual being.

Kids grow up way to fast. It seems like yesterday I was changing her diaper singing her Barney Tunes and now she is sporting thongs. I just discovered my first gray hair and I am blaming my daughter. I am getting old. (sigh)

as long as they stay under the pants, and there are no hoochie strings peaking out, high school.

I have a 16 yo daughter and if there's one thing I learned in my teenage years, it's that girls will wear what they WANT regardless of whether their parents will allow them to or not. Hence I don't get involved in my daughter's choice of underwear.
