I found this awesome large mirror with a big old heavy wooden frame. It looks like it went on one of those stands so you can tilt it if it stood on the floor - at a garage sale a few days ago.

There isn't any work on the wood, no textures no designs... except, that its written all over - it must have belonged to a teen girl. Thankfully she didn't stick anything to it but it was black sharpied over in some spots ... must have been I Love _____ and then she broke up with the boy hehe.

anyway... I sanded it, and I want to buy the cement stuff to add texture to it. And I have paints, and I want to do a firey sunset into a dark sky type design around it - so thats all done.

But in the sky in some color that hits me at the moment, or around it to go along with the color fades... I want to write something...

I was thinking "Carpe Diem"
I have a few song lyrics that fit really well, but I'm not sure of.
or a qote from Sade that says: " either kill me or take me as I am, because I'll be damned if I ever change"

but I started looking for more quotes (I did find a bunch more that i love) that will fit, well, a mirror... something you look in everyday... I want a nice quote to see and remind myself that its another day and I am my own person... ya know a reflection (for lack of a better word) type thing.

Suggestions? help?

I posted on the GB as well... but you all know how that ends up...

ideas

A cloudy sky does not always signify a rainy day. (fridge magnet)

The earth is my body, but my head is in the stars! (Harold & Maude, my favorite movie ever - it's a Maude quote)

What would you attempt each day if you knew you could not fail? (unknown)

Love is in the air, everywhere you look around, Love is in the air, every sight & every sound (song lyrics from some song in Strictly Ballroom soundtrack, I forget...)

What a cool idea - have fun!!!

I really like that one. :)

My favorite lately is, "If you had one day left to live, what would you do, and why aren't you doing it?"

when the pawn hits the conflict, he thinks like a king...

(the whole poem if you have enough space ;) )

oh I can't remember the proper wording...something like...

dance like no one is watching
love like you've never been hurt before

or a few other options....

"I am not afraid of the storm, for I am learning to sail my ship."..Louisa May Alcott

"In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer."
Albert Camus

Turn your face to the sun, and the shadows fall behind you

Love is the only thing you get more of by giving it away.

"If eyes were made for seeing, then beauty is its own excuse for being."

It's not how far you go in life it's the path you choose to take.

Even more beautiful then sunshine is the golden glow of friendship

Yesterday is a dream of happiness, tomorow a vision of hope

All you need to fly is a dream and a little fairy dust - Peter Pan

Everyone around you has their own little scheme, listen to your heart and hold onto your dream.

Forward into life I go, upon a path I do not know. Where it goes depends on me, I control my destiny.

OH

It's not how far you go in life, it's the path you choose to take.

I really like this one.

oooh, these are nice too, very good ideas.

no personal things that will/could turn sour.

reflective I am my own person carpe diem type stuff only :)

I really like the ideas, I may have to use them in another project.. a collage of sorts.

I have a bunch of extra time, and my jobs this summer take alot out of me .. and i've been in an artsy mood w/ no time or mediums to play with, I'm glad I have them now - I was beginning to go stir crazy.
(still can't bring myself to write or finish one of the 10 stories I started though - i'm so stuck haha) maybe the art will help.

stick in a good cd... get comfortable ... i'm sure you all know what I'm talking about :)

BlueSugar~

I am so *jealously* happy that you get to do crafty fun stuff over summer!!! I only wish I had time to do it all!

I saw a really cute mirror that they had frosted the edges and wrote "Mirror, Mirror, on the wall. . . . " but that might be a little too Disney-ish for a large mirror.

Here are some of my favorite sayings: "Life is a journey. . .Make it count."

"Achievement: What could we accomplish if we knew we could not fail?"

"If you find a job you love, you will never work a day in your life."

"Carpe Diem" I LOVE this one!!

"When I am good, I am GOOD; but when I am bad, I am even BETTER!" (I believe that is from Mae West) *Sheath, I like your Mae West quote too!*

Gosh, there are so many good ones. . .like you said, you will know when you find the ONE that fits!!!

Good luck and enjoy your creative expressiveness!!!

What a great project this sounds like Blue......... I do things like that too as well as watercolors.....

Here are a few....

Everything you can imagine is real........ Picasso

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined. Henry Thoreau

Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake. Henry Thoreau

Live your beliefs and you can turn the world around. Thoreau

Insist upon yourself. Be original. Emerson

holy, how can I forget about Thoreau. And I may have to do a little research into Mae West and more of the lovely things she has said.
The picasso one is quite nice as well - it is a good reflection.

Oi! I must collect these and use them with something else. Maybe start another scrapbook of sorts ... break out my pictures and memories.

So I have my mirror
a scrap book collage type dealy
and I finished a queen size blanket - crochet - 3 weeks.

I think I want to buy some more of the cement stuff, and get a mosaic going possibly - that'll keep me really busy.

I  summer!

When do you find the time? What do you do when you find it?

Thoreau is my favorite - I enjoy Emerson too - but Thoreau is by far my favorite.

I try to find the time to do my art but its hard I know - and the longer I go without that time the harder it is to get absorbed in the project. Plus my skills suffer for it too.

You are inspiring me to get it going again - I have found the writing I've been doing has helped keep my creative side well fed.
