I'm on a quest for a specific painting, and since the IQ and general appreciation of art tends to run higher here than anywhere else, I'd like to present you with my search. I'm looking for a painting (1900s?) of a temptress/seductress. Her top half is woman, her bottom half is snake. She is kissing a male soldier who is slowly being overtaken by vines. I wrote a paper on it about the wiles of feminism, though in my increasing age, I'm forgetting little things like that. Any help would be appreciated!

I've actually seen the painting you are talking about (or at least one amazingly similar). It's a medusa painting, but I can't remember the actual title of it ... or who painted it :( sorry

Glad I could help ... and that actually isn't the painting that I was thinking of LOL ...

Tell me more about your painting. Perhaps I can place it?

The one I'm thinking of it a medusa painting ... part of a series of Greek Mythology figures that someone did. Medusa, kissing a soldier, upper body woman, lower body snake, and I think it was the snakes from her hair that were entwining the soldier rather than vines ....

Thank you

to Myst and SweetDommes. No real luck on the latter search, but i did find some other interesting things.

That's ok AA ... I'm not all that interested in finding the painting that I was thinking of. It's just a curiosity, since the one that Myst was talking about ISN'T the one I thought it was.
