Would y'all be interested in running your own contest to design a cover for this volume? We need very hi-res work (scans or photos) per CafePress' guidelines.

Also, the CafePress store will have other benefit products, so there's the potential to contribute a design for stickers, mugs, posters, etc.

Just let me know what y'all decide.

I would very much like to be involved in this.
I'll pm all the regular artists and see if we can do something. :rose:

Great idea Impressive. I might try my hand at something..

Two ideas ran through my mind on this one; The contest for the artists and they simply do pieces that relate to what Colly has written, as already suggested, OR; the artists doing renderings from Colly's AV pics, and then everyone votes on what they like the best. I believe the latter would tie it all to Colly much more thoroughly.

Thoughts?

I had similiar ideas to yours and wasn't sure which way to go. I left a lil note at the Anthology thread asking their opinion and in particular Mel's. Lets see what they say and we can go from there.

btw...long time no see, Tol, Halo  's for you both

Mel suggested a far off landscape. Something real and yet not at the same time perhaps.

How do we want to run this contest? Who will be the host? Do we each submit one entry or are multiple entries okay(this will give us more to choose from since we only have 3 of us interested so far)?

Well, I'm off for the night guys.

Because this is for something very special, I would definitely recommend that multiple entries on the parts of all the artists be permitted. The broader the spectrum that everyone can see, the better the chance to find just the right piece.

I would also suggest that when the piece is chosen that if anyone has any changes or concerns about the piece, the artist should be flexible about making changes if their of the general consensus. This is for a remembrance; it needs to be good for as many people as possible, especially the one being remembered.

As far as who is to host this endeavor; I'll be happy to host it if that is fine by everyone else. We really need to get a time table for this project, though. When are they looking to have this out in front of the public by; or is this a lets-take-the-time-and-do-EVERYTHING-right type of project? Whomever hosts this will need a secondary person to help contact and coordinate the other artists as well, I would think. There's a bunch of them, and they all need to be contacted which may mean some persistence is needed since the artists forums has gone so quiet with the warm weather.

:rose:

Great idea, however I don't think I'm at half as good as some on here, if someone would like me to take a chance on a story and do a sketch to go with it I will.
Let me know what's decided and we can go from there.

Thanks for the PM Moonie!

Colly's SO posted in the thread on the AH that she envisioned a cover of space -- something surreal, distant ...

I'm more than fine with you being the host. I'll offer my help as the contact/support person. I don't think we have deadline yet. I'll find out and let you know.

Welcome

Cealy, if Colly where here she'd give you one of her "ppfffffts". We'd love you to take part. If you really don't feel comfortable doing the cover design I'll go find out if they are up for having her stories illustrated.

Cover Deadline

Okay, we have a cover deadline.

We need to have a winner and a cover by the end of this month.
Also all artist's must submit their work per CafePress' guidelines.

I'll be back later tonight with any other info I get. We should start this off as soon as possible imo.

Cealy, I'm pming Colly's SO to see if she'd like a sketch for any of the stories.

Thanks Sweets! I know I dont have the talent that others have on here and I know I wouldn't do it justice. A few pictures here and there would be fine, I can read and sketch what ever they want illustrated- or at least try. Maybe even work with someone else to do them.

When it comes to traditional drawing(pencil/ paper) I'm not much good but I can do photography and paintings. So, I'm gonna stick to one or the other medium here.

Talk to Imp, about the sketches. Looks like they might be able to use one or two. Not exactly sure but if you talk to her I think you can work something out.

Gotta take off internship calls.

That'd be all well and good if I had any surreal landscapes in my area ;)

That's what digital manipulation is for, silly man!
True, but I'm not overly good with manipulation yet :p I know some basics, but that's about it.

My thoughts were to use colly's AV and warp an image around her leg, so you could still see the shape of her leg, but not the texture..however, to do this, I would need a much larger version of Colly's AV

Well, if the deadline is the end of this month then I suggest that any artists who have gotten wind of all this already, go ahead and start getting some pieces worked up. Submit them to this thread or contact me for the e-mail to send them to.

Later this evening I'll start sending PMs to the artists to see if I can't get their attention.

I suggest that we have a special one or two-day voting process so that the piece can be submitted for publishing in as timely a manner as possible.

I think that artists and photographers alike should be jumping into this one. Some really good stuff could come out of this.

We don't have much time left so getting started is a good idea. I was thinking that all art should be in by the 27th, Tuesday. That would be just about a weeks time for creating. Then voting on the 28th and 29th. In that way we have an extra day to spare in case any touch up work needs to be done before giving it to Imp.

I'll be back later tonight to see what's going on. I've already pmed a few artists. Not sure how many more will participate but we'll see.
