One of the authors that I read has collected an email list of people who've written to her and said they liked her work. Whenever a new story gets posted, the sends a mass mailing to interested parties.

Me, being the arragoant egotist that I am, I immediately thought "the Official KM Website!" Actually, more of an msn community or yahoo club dojobber where interested parties can sign up for a similar sort of mailing list.

Maybe have another author or two so that I don't sound nearly as utterly self-absorbed or conceited.

Oh my gawd that sounds incredibly arrogant. Holy cow. What a stupid idea.

What do ya'll think?

I'm signed up to recieve notice of Maria Gonzales' new stories. She also posts readers comments in a real simple format, not sure that I even call it a bullitin board. She has run contests to name stories that she was haveing trouble with, and does a few other interesting things. She posts some on Art's site, ASSM, and her own page.

I don't think that anyone has a problem with her doing that, and it is nice toknow when she has a new story out.

Duh, me

That's a good idea, I've been thinking about doing something like that. I get e-mails from faithful readers asking when my next story is posting and I try to keep them updated. But I hesitate to mass e-mail because I don't want to have a whole bunch of people seeing each other's e-mail addesses in a mass post.

So, if I sent a mass mail, and I "Bcc" the other addresses, will those people get the e-mail without seeing who else got the message. I'm pretty sure that's right, but before I mess with something like that I want to make sure.

If you send the email to yourself and bcc everyone else then, no, no one will see anyone else's email addy.

I did a mass mail for the end of "Good things," but that was only because it was a year late. *laughing*

I find that the people who write and like my stories keep writing and liking my stories.. I think when people find an author they like, they keep their eyes peeled for new stories by them. I know I do.

'Course, put some NekkidMuffin pics up on that official site, and I'LL sign up to become a member.. *winkwink*

=D

Yup.

I started sending out this same kind of notice since the first time I got feedback mail requesting it. It seemed like a great idea, and I'm happy to do it. Some of my readers even REPLY to such messages in order to thank me for it, too. Yeeeeeha!

I make it a point to offer to take people off the list if they don't want to be on it anymore, and I usually can't resist a "tell your friends" or a "vote for me" plug while I'm at it.

And one of these days I'll probably put up my own site, but I don't feel like bothering with that, now. I'm happy just to have an author's page and be a part of the community here.

Anybody want to BE on my mailing list? Write and tell me so.

Well, I did it. I have my own total vanity msn community page. I'm thinking of deleting it, but I think I'll let it go for a month or so and see if it makes anyone cares enough. Ugh. If I wasn't so damned felinely pleased with myself, I'd almost be tempted to be ashamed.

Personally I think self stroking provides us with a variety of good feelings! If it works, please let us all know. :)

As Ambro says, click the little red house.

Dratting thing's drawback is that you have to have an MSN passport account of some sort to join the thing. I may move it to another place where I can get a mailing list type thing going on, where people don't get monthly intrusive emails from MSN, and where people don't have to have an MSN email addy to sign up.

I would luv to be on the mailing list of....

I would love to be on the mailing list of writers I have contacted telling them I like their work. That way I don't have to search constantly for a new update.

KM,

Arrogant or not, I've had an email list since I first started writing. Originally, I only posted to USENET, in alt.sex.stories.

If you've ever been there, you'll see that there are thousands of postings a day, most spam or spam like, so I started the email list to let people know when there was a new one, and early on, also used it to distribute new stories.

When I moved to Lit I kept the list, but modified the method. Now I use the list to update people on the progress of new stories and to let them know that I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. Also, now when I submit to Lit, I use the email list to direct people to the new stories page, helping to drive traffic to Lit as well as call attention to the story. Once the story has moved off of the new submission page, I send a final email to the list directing them to my author page so that they can find the whole thing in one place if they are so inclined.

BTW, I use listbot.com for my list, but there are a lot of good services out there.

KM Went To Your Site

Thought I'd let you know that I looked around on your website. Decided that I didn't want to join another community with a new ID/password etc. But enjoyed what I saw.
