I’ve been going through a rough patch with anxiety and depression lately. I believe the severity is situational but I have struggled with performance anxiety for quite awhile.

Is this something that any of you have experienced before? Was it short lived because of current work and/or family stress? Was it an on-going issue triggered by performance anxiety? Mismatched libido or sexual chemistry?

Just curious if anyone else has encountered this problem, and care to share their experiences.

When I’m stressed, in disagreement with the wife, etc, my libido typically drops. I think it’s a pretty normal thing when there’s stuff going on upstairs that it affects the downstairs.
Absolutely! I think that’s totally natural. It’s hard to get aroused when you’re stressed out and having relationship problems.

Are you taking antidepressant medication?

The SSRI type are well known to negatively impact libido, performance and being able to reach orgasm.

And there are things the prescribing doctor can add to the prescription to make it better.

No, I'm not talking about ED medication, though you can ask for that too.

I do understand that the depression/anxiety itself can fuel performance anxiety. But the above ideas could enhance performance enough to balance that out and restore sexual confidence, even while still experiencing the depression and anxiety over whatever the other matters are.
