Arizona official may keep Obama off the ballot

Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett, a Republican exploring a 2014 race for governor, issued a statement insisting he is not a "birther," the word he and others use for those who believe Obama was not born in the United States and is not legitimately president.

Bennett told a radio interviewer yesterday it was "possible" he would keep Obama off the ballot if the issue isn't resolved.

"First, I have been on the record since 2009 that I believe the president was born in Hawaii. I am not a birther," Bennett said in his statement.

"At the request of a constituent, I asked the state of Hawaii for a verification in lieu of certified copy," he said. "We're merely asking them to officially confirm they have the president's birth certificate in their possession and are awaiting their response."

In part because of Arpaio's investigation, Bennett said on KFYI radio that he received over 1,200 e-mails asking him to look into Obama's birth certificate. Bennett told radio host Mike Broomhead on Thursday that he believes "the president was born in Hawaii -- at least I hope he was" and stated he was "not playing to the birthers."

He went on to explain that he had been trying for eight weeks to verify Obama's certificate and was surprised by how challenging it has been to get a response from Hawaii officials.

Sheriff Joe's "Cold Case Posse," BTW, is an actual official volunteer organization associated with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office -- just like the MCSO's other posses. The CCP is supposed to be about this:

Hawaii's response to Bennett: "Prove you need this."

PHOENIX (AP) – The attorney general's office in Hawaii is telling Arizona's secretary of state that if he wants confirmation of President Obama's birth records, he'll have to prove he legitimately needs it.

Special Assistant Joshua Wisch said late Friday that Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett hasn't done that despite numerous email and phone exchanges between their offices.

Wisch says Hawaii state laws require Bennett to show legal authority that this office needs the records to update its official lists as part of its ordinary work.

Wisch says as soon as Bennett gives Hawaii adequate authority, the Aloha State will verify Obama's birth.

Bennett said in a radio interview this week that Obama's status on Arizona's ballot is in question unless Hawaii verifies his birthplace.

Hawaii officials have confirmed multiple times that Obama was born there.

Also don't forget that the Fed's are suing the MCSO and the MCSO has been investigating Obama for fraud. Also the Fed's have sued AZ several times because the federal gov't refuses to enforce federal law leaving it to AZ.

This is just politics as usual. Wouldn't surprise me if Gov Brewer was behind this hoping to get a cabinet post or maybe even VP if Mitt wins.

The President of the US committing a crime is not crap. remember Nixon, or Clinton, both caught committing crimes in office. Both were investigated. One resigned in disgrace one was impeached by Congress.

If he was born in Hawaii, then showing a certified Birth certificate would end these accusations. Hell I gotta show a certified birth certificate to get my DL renewed, but not to run for prez. Something is fucked up here. I live in a different state than I was born in. It took about a half hour and cost a few bucks to get a certified copy of my birth certificate embossed with the state seal of my birth state. It was all done online.

If he wasn't born in the US, then he committed fraud, which is what is being investigated.

I say let them investigate. If he did nothing wrong then he has nothing to hide. If he is lying, then the Citizens of the US have a right to know. Just like Deep Throat let us know about Nixon.

HONOLULU - The state of Hawaii has verified President Obama's birth records to Arizona's elections chief after a nearly three-month back and forth that Arizona officials said could have ended without the incumbent's name on its November ballot.

Joshua Wisch, special assistant to Hawaii Attorney General David Louie, told The Associated Press in an email late Tuesday that the matter is resolved after Hawaii gave Arizona the verification it was looking for.

Hawaii - which has vouched for Obama's birth in the state several times as early as October 2008 - didn't bow to the request easily. The Aloha State told Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett he had to prove he needed the records as part of normal business.

Wisch says Hawaii got what it needed, so it gave Bennett's office the verification.

It's not immediately clear whether the information will satisfy Bennett. Bennett spokesman Matthew Roberts said the office received the verification and planned to comment Wednesday.

Roberts did not say whether the information would end the flap with Obama's name on the ballot.

Of course this is how it would end . . . I'm thinking Bennett is perhaps not quite the idiot creep Arpaio is, but is a whore, and merely saw a need to make a gesture to feed the base, here.

A baptismal record isn't a legal document, and doesn't prove citizenship status. We need to see something signed by a doctor in the presence of a notary.
