Many years ago I was at a little club off Rampart Street in New Orleans. A friends band was playing there that night. I walked outside and saw a limo pull up out stepped a woman who went inside. Soon another car pulled up and a very old man was helped out. As he walked inside he was greeted with hello Champ and then a song Happy birthday sung by Aretha Franklin. To this day I am not 100% sure if I was not dreaming. I was about 19 at the time and she was a huge star even then.
