you?

Novice could be defined many ways, but in this poll it means no real time experience.

About 10 or 12 years under our belt, with some things such as rope bondage, but like others we are always learning and growing togethere....................Taking things to a higer level........:)

I am a novice sub... no real time experience, but am slowly but surely learning about the lifestyle, with the help of all the great people here at Lit, and a Master whom i met online.... every day's learning has me more and more fascinated. Hoping to have r/t experience in the future! :D sierra

I had to go with novice. My Master and I have been in the BDSM part of our relationship for about 1 1/2 years.
With the distance, marriages, etc... it looks like I'll be a novice for quite a while.

Most of my training was online, long distance correspondence. Since November i have had the sublime and exquisite pleasure to be real time... the two don't compare... i consider myself a novice

I am an experienced switch, I have been involved in BDSM for over 25 years, in one capacity or another. I started out subbing in the gay leather scene, then served a Mistress for several years. After that I explored my dominant side for a long time, and then for a while switched back and forth until I got involved in my last serious relationship, which was as a Dom. Since the end of that relatonship , about a year ago, I have been primarily submissive. Could change again tomorrow!

Though I've been in this relationship for slightly over 2 years, during most of which we experimented with BDSM, I consider myself a novice. I always choose to be submissive, but power play is not an always in our sex life. Not to say we're always nilla; there're all sorts of deviant sex things out there besides BDSM. But you already know that. What I'm saying is that while it's hardcore D/s while it's going on, it isn't my lifestyle.

Still a novice sub here. I need to find that one special lady to take me to the next level.

I voted curious onlooker...while we have experimented with different things I still wouldn't consider myself a novice anything. We like to play is all :) but if it came right down to it I would be a sub...in the bedroom at least :) all other daily life things I would have to take care of. :)

I'm an experienced submissive.

I've identified as a BDSM submissive for going on 30 years. My first sexual relationship was also my first BDSM relationship and it lasted for almost four years. I began my tenure subbing to a Master but within a year he added a third to our relationship, my first Mistress; they lived together, my two Dominants.

My important BDSM relationships after the triad spanned many years and involved one Mistress and two Masters, all relationships that went for at least two years, usually more. In between all of them were others from whom i learned as my life brushed against theirs.

My last important BDSM relationship ended in December. For the first time in my life, it was a very bad ending and i'm not ready or able to begin anew quite yet. Right now, unbelievably and for the first time in many years, i've essentially chosen to be celibate while i concentrate on establishing friendships within the ranks of my local munch group and work through the crap emotional stuff i have to deal with regarding that bad December ending.

I don't switch. Not happily, anyway.
I'm just sub.

Great Idea for a Poll!!

Thanks for starting this poll.. i believe it was WriterDom... boy, i didn't realize just how many novices are out there.. i don't feel quite so alone now :). What great responses. Take care all!!! sierra

As defined by the poll, I am an experienced sub.

However, in that my experience is very limited, I would say I am a yearling. Neither experienced, neither novice....somewhere in between.

I'm the "other" vote. By your definition, only no experience at all is novice, and one relationship, eight years back, hardly makes me "experienced", in my own eyes, anyway. Only left one valid choice for an "inexperienced" switch. :D

I suppose

I am considered an experienced female dominant.

I have real time experience with more than one male submissive. I currently have one part-time RT boy. I am going to have a 24/7 relationship with my beloved LDR love and submissive tavish.

And I had one RT sub who I had to leave in the pacific northwest when I moved to the east coast.

I also do some training of new male submissives.

I had to go with novice switch because even though I have about a year of real time experience I still don't think i am that experienced.

In rt I would consider myself an experenced Dom.
This online stuff I am a noice but learning

Thanks for bumping this thread Richard

i would have missed it.

i voted "novice switch". At this point i'm actively searching for people in or interested in the lifestyle in my area.

i expect, really hope to start as a sub, to "get a feel"(no pun) for what pain and bondage can do.

i don't want to totally commit to that forever, because i have a very gentle, loving nature which i think could be expressed as a Dom to someone interested in exploring.

Add that to my fascination with knots and what i've seen of ropework, and an understanding of the nervous system from nearly 40 years of studying medicine, i think i'd be cheating myself if i didn't try to take a look at both sides of the BDSM equation.

Great thread WD!

Going by the definition of novice to be used in this poll, I'd be an experienced Dom. However, that's still limited experience and I'd generally consider myself a novice.
