I was just reading some threads and it seems some one misrepresented themselves and placed certain pictures that were not of themselves. Many people on here commented on them and said some very postive things about them.

What I am wondering is , how does one react now that they have found out that the person who posted the pictures is not really him/her.

Does that make you think certain thoughts about that individual or do you just not think twice about it.

I know some people misrepresent themselves and not every one tells the truth on chat forums ... etc...

I was just wondering what some of you thought about this subject. I am sure this is not the first time this has occur.

I once found my picture on a dating service site and it freaked me out. I guess we are all free targets when we choose to post our real pictures online or email them to individuals we chat with ...

Thanks. :)

I'd expose the person that did it, if anything it will show other people that we aren't going to tolerate lying.

Nobody wants to be made a fool of - least of all me!:)

I just hope that who ever is doing the exposing has the proof to back it up.

Fiction is OK. Impersonation, lampooning and satire can be fun.

Identity theft is a serious crime.

Im nobody who are you
are you nobody too?

<------------------actually Im them

Pen Pal Syndrome

Look this is a tricky question for a number of reasons. You might start out on the net trying to escape or hide and hence you addopt a secret identity. You could have low self esteem and create a vision of the person you want to be. There are any number of reason to hide behind a facarde. I think that each individual circumstance need to be treated on its own.

I found my SO on the net and we were and are honest we did not try to be any one but our selves she came out with a line to describe her self that i still love to this very day she was describing her self and inparticular her weight and she said:

" Im a little over weight,...lets face it small moons have been known to orbit me" gotta love that woman

Treat people as you find them

I'm not a big fan of misrepresentation. Period.

I confess - I'm not a cat.

Can I still put tar in your belly button?

That's my light version.

I loathe misrepresentation.

Damn. Does that mean I can't rubber cement your breastices to each other anymore?

To be honest, that's why I stick with pics of my cats as avs. I feel vaguely dishonest putting up pics of other women, and I'm not at all comfortable using myself as an av. TO be clear, I don't think that using pics other than yourself as avs is dishonest provided you don't claim them as you...it's just not something I'm cool on for me.

I try to use avs that are representative of something I want to express...usually just something I think is cool...passing off pics as yourself is deceiving though...over the internet it is the ultimate lie...but hey....oh well...I don't like it but I won't riot because of it...
