dear Literoticians, poets, lurkers, etc :)

my girl gave me a link, showcasing old superstitions, and a couple of them inspired me, actually to write, and I thought maybe the rest of you, or a few, might enjoy reading over these old wives' tales, so heres the link, and if you come up with anything, post it here, or submit it, just curious to see if I am the only freak here :D

old superstitions

I'm tingly with excitement, which means... I'm tingly with excitement... and oh yeah, it's an omen of death.
I love writing about things like this. Check out my sig line for the bruja poem. It has some superstition in it and hardly any comments and a crappy score. I'm not hinting here, people. I'm asking you to tell me what's wrong with it!
Okay, I'll give the death superstitions a try.

my daughter's cat rules:
cat 43: you need to play around
cat 44: don't get in the water; you don't like that
cat 45: eat mice
cat 46: you must poop
cat 47: you must scratch

So why does your cat need to be told to poop??

Our cat is nearly 30 year old. She needs to be reminded.

I've already started on a death superstition poem. The death superstitions are interesting.

Wow, my cat is only sweet seventeen, and I expect her to drop dead any minute.

I'm a little low on superstition, can I borrow some?

and I cannot wait to read your death poem

muawaaahhaa

I'm not superstitious. I'm anxious sometimes, but not about superstitions--I figure real life is what's gonna screw me up...

:D

blacks cats...

last holloween i took my daughter trick-or-treating.
if the moon wasn't full it was close to it..big and bright in the sky. while she was off getting her treats, sitting behind the wheel of our truck i heard this kitty crying..the desperate(come rescue me) kinda cry.

i parked the truck and followed the sounds to an empty lot where she was up near the top of this big old oak tree. totally black cat.

now we just lived 2 years in mississippi where they cross yellow lines to rid the world of black kitty cats. very superstitious there, it drove me crazy.

well i looked up at her in the tree, told her i wasn't coming up after her, if she wanted to come home with us she'd have to come down to me.

about that time my daughter had found her way to me wondering why i was looking up talking to this tree:rolleyes:

well just like magic, like she understood what i had said, she climbed down out of that tree without any further coaxing, ran up to us, climbed up on my daughters shoulders and meowed "take me home, the witch hunters are out to get me tonight."

the moonlight guided me to her, she was after all black, and my friends down there had fits that i would get a black cat on holloween night when the moon was full. i blew them off, and our kitty cat(moonlight) plays fetch and still understands everything when i talk to her..

no, i'm not superstitious at all!

I forgot about this thread and my daughter's cat rules. Glad to read those again. lol

Although I definately believe in many superstitions, some of the ones on that link are just strange (and not in the normally good way).

"Unlucky to wash a baby's head for the first 12 months" What's up with this one?...
