are you still afraid of the coronavirus?

What are your specific fears, and what are the basis for them?

That's a quite reasonable fear

I assume that's the family has him completely isolated, correct? Anybody in or out gets a temperature check preferably a recent, negative Covid test? Ideally, someone with a negative Covid and a positive antibody test.

I fear the same thing that I feared on Day One;
that the government will assume powers that will never be relinquished.

They will either never cure this,
or they will use it as a model to enforce even more "cures"
(and not all of them of a medical nature but rather placation of the socially-woke mobs).

I've had it. It's fucking horrible, but I know it won't kill me.

My mother is almost guaranteed to die if she gets it. PCKD, cysts on her liver and bowels, high stroke risk, and on immunosuppressants from the transplant surgery.
While this outbreak continues, she can only see her kids and grandkids if they stay outside and at a distance, everything entering the house gets a bleach dip, she can't even pet the dogs. She's not been out since February. Her husband has had to move into my sister's house, sleeping in what was the dining room, because they can't risk him bringing infection home.
Nobody gets in or out, because not everyone has symptoms and tests only tell you if you had measurable virus amounts at the moment you were tested.

I'm not scared. I've never been scared of it. But I want it under control, so I'm wearing my mask and washing my hands. It's a tiny inconvenience to me, but hopefully it'll help with keeping infection levels low.

My mother is lucky, her husband can keep bringing in an income because my sister made space. Other people are financially fucked, and have no choice but to take more risks.

I feel more oppressed by having to wear shoes than having to wear a mask.

Seems highly unlikely that you would either get it again to be able to spread it. If you beat it you beat it by developing antibodies.

I am classed as severe risk because of my age, Type II diabetes and fighting lung cancer. If I get it, my chances of survival are effectively nil.

We don't know.

There is still more that we don't know for sure about this virus than we know for sure;
every week seems to bring out new, and at times conflicting information/results
but our political class is acting as if they know for sure backing Fauci
(over Trump) despite all of his missteps and misdiagnoses...

You will have grave difficulty convincing me
that this backing is not for political gain.

Trump ain't no scientist and should not be listened to,
but Fauci has clearly let his ego do his talking too
acting, just like Trump, as if he knows for sure.
HE DOES NOT, NEITHER DOES TRUMP.

At least Trump is not attempting to
scare the living shit out of us.

Except that we still have reports of cases that proved to be asymptomatic.

We still don't know what we don't know.

Would a virulent flu also kill your mother?
Not so far. A new strain might. She gets the shot every year, and most year's strains are close enough to what we've dealt with before that our immune system has an advantage.

I'm less worried about her lungs, which are surprisingly good, and more worried about the other directions corona often seems to take. Like multiple clots in multiple organs, for example.

Tests have shown that the antibodies from infection start to drop off after a few months. The asymptomatic people seem not to hold onto immunity as long as those who get sick, so my partner could very likely become a carrier again already.

Too many unknowns still. It's life and death, so we're all playing it safe.

Why I ask is in the kernel of thought from post #4...

Will our governments seek to impose this onus on us for the next flu strain?

Because it will most certainly be deadly to 'some' people.

COVID is already as much as 10 times deadlier than the flu. It might end up being 25 times deadlier for all we know. And that doesn’t even take into account long term residual effects.

So let’s dispense with the flu comparisons already.

We concentrate on the mortality rate, but it's not just that.
With my daughter, it went to her digestive system, and I think she was probably only a day away from needing to go into hospital for IV fluids when she turned the corner.
One of her friends ended up blind and in intensive care, but fortunately made a good recovery.

There's a lot of reports of people who weren't even that sick getting extreme post-viral syndrome. Something like ME. There's cases of single, double, quadruple amputation after coronavirus caused sepsis. These people are part of the 98% survival rate too. So are the people who needed lung transplants.

It's going to take time to get the data on the long term impact. At the moment everyone is fixated on a binary outcome.

We don't even know if it is a true mortality rate.

In the AIDS epidemic, we first experienced the proclivity
to record every death with a positive HIV result as a death due to complications.

We would like so very much to consider our institutions such as hospitals
to be immune, by their very nature, to corruption, but at least here
they still have to cover their costs and if any additional federal
funding comes of positive SARS-CoV-2 testing results
I don't put it passed a stressed administration
to fudge cause of death just a bit...

what I dont understand is

what is the point of lockdowns?

cause it is a forever event if a "cure" isnt found

how can sciety function?

JUST GET IT OVER WITH

Again (see post #4) part and parcel of my original concerns,
at what point is victory ever declared?
I see no terminal condition(s)
on the horizon.

Similarly, I am reminded that it wasn't until President Obama left office,
that children in cages became a big issue until we were shown
the pictures taken during his administration in the effort
to destroy President Trump over the issue...

This is quite the political jerkfest going on in here this fine monday morning. Lol

Hope you dipshits have your tinfoil hats on!

This is a perfect example of the arrogance of the Left
who have come to believe that they are freed
of the constraints of polite speech and
compelled to treat others in the
same manner as the Nazis
spoke to the Jews...,

Totalitarians.

Since “somebody” already injected politics here...here’s a question.

If you were the leader of a country suffering a serious pandemic and your approval ratings regarding your handling of the crisis were plummeting, what would you do? Keep singing the same tunes, or look for a new songbook?

Prove to me that you're more than arrogant hot air and that I should take your word over health officials in every country in the world and I will show you respect. Until then you and you kind will receive the ridicule you deserve.
Should we compare president Trum's rhetoric to that of the nazis and see who talks like a nazi?

At a pro-police rally, again, the Left is willing to not just tell you
but are eager to show how they feel about your right
to engage in free speech:

Malkin was live streaming the event from her cell phone on Periscope Sunday afternoon as the situation deteriorated after masked thugs wearing Black Lives Matter t-shirts assaulted two speakers and then set upon Malkin. A diminutive child of immigrants from the Philippines who legally moved to the U.S. in the late 1960s, Malkin, who was born in Philadelphia in 1970, describes herself as a “little brown woman” with a “big mouth.” Malkin linked to the entire 35 minute long Periscope video at her Twitter.

On the video, which had been viewed over 150,000 times by early Monday, several individuals identifying themselves as Black Lives Matter accost Malkin as one or more of them unfurl collapsible batons and begin pushing and beating on Malkin. In the process, she loses a shoe and is eventually assisted in escaping to a waiting car by the event’s security volunteers, at which point the video feed ends. Malkin was understandably distraught at this unanticipated violent turn of events and expressed frustration that Denver police, who were visibly present in the area, did nothing to stop the attacks or to allow the peaceful pro-police rally to continue.
