Hey, how come the only sports anybody ever talks about on this board are boxing, soccer and fucking. What about football?

I think Dennis Miller is funny as hell and I watch MNF just to hear his crazy shit. The games ain't been bad either.

Hey Lasher, but what about them Steelers? Do they suck or what? Fortunately they somehow managed to not lose last weekend. I was very disgusted when they lost to Detroit on Thanksgiving two years ago. I was even more disgusted when they lost to Cleveland last year. I was totally disgusted when they lost the first game to the Ravens this year. Whether they beat the Browns this weekend is irrelevant. The Steelers can't possibly compete with Tennessee, Jacksonsville and Baltimore.

OK, I need a new team to root for, somebody with at least a chance to win it all. Who is the best team to root for and why?

Detroit Lions...is there anybody else.

I know the Lions are going to have there hands full this week with the Tampa Bay Bucs.
They just sqweeked one out last week against Washington, the 100 million dollar team.Ha HA HA.

:::Groans::: MNF, Hooters wings, beer. Is it that time of year again?

The "Pats" and the "Boys" ... my loyalties are divided. Better yet we're only weeks away from the start of hockey season.

GO WINGS!!!!

Okay - ya got me goin' here....

Right up front - sorry - but I HATE THE FUCKIN' COWBOYS!!!!!

Please, God's Team? That's why they put a hole in the top of the dome - so he could watch his favorite team?

PUKE!!!!! Roger, Troy, Tom, Jerry? DOUBLE PUKE!!!!

Why? Why do I hate them way too clean - most of'em in jail - dumb fuckin' Dallas boys?

Because I'm a huge R - E - D - S - K - I - N - S fan!!!!

"Hail to the Redskins, hail victory......"

And this year's it baby - except for the sad fact we picked up that cry baby Dion - it's all the way. Snyder is king. He's got 10 - that's 10 - highly potential Carlisle candidates on the team this year!!!! Wow!!!!

The only NFL team with a fight song! Long live the Diesel - Riggo was god. Hail to Sonny and the Blimmer and Charlie Taylor and what about that man Darrell Green - please - Carlisle all the way.

Real dirt - real grass - real blood - real men - real football players. All other's are pussies - especially domed/turfed pussies. Like those friggin' boys from Dallas.

Hogs! Hogs! Hogs!

Jeeezzzuuusss Sparky. Don't hold back, tell us how ya'really feel.

I love football but you sound like you would have given Riggens or a "Hog" a kidney.

Sparky,
How much is Mister Snyder paying you to be a 'skins fan? He's buying everything else.

Funny thing...

I loved Jack Cook, thought I'd hate Snyder - kinda like I hate Steinbrenner (I live in NYC now) but found that I do like the Yankees (but my heart is with the O's but that's another story - sport) but this Snyder guy is infinitely smarter than The Boss and much more articulate and humorous too. The news papers can't convey that. Got to catch interviews on local TV in DC. Fact is most Skin's fans were predisposed to hate Snyder - but they've slowly embraced him. Talk of the league, he is. We'll see - interesting - Norv's job on the line - mo-money spent than any other team - lost one already. We'll see.

And Riggo - yes - a god - ran into him numerous times - started in my business low - installing restaurant systems in the then new wave of sports bars - put in all 3 (at that time) systems for Joey T. Riggo was so notorious that Joe made him phone ahead or would not let him in any of his clubs - once I was there and they got the call - the manager yelled down the bar "Riggo Alert - Riggo Alert!" Was sittin' at Joey T's bar, eating wings early to have a seat at the bar for Monday Night Football - Skin's vs Giants, home game - Joe T comes in before the game, has one beer and heads for the stadium - we all watched his TV's as LT crunched his leg and ended his career - all the waitresses cried. Was drinkin' at another bar - Riggo bursts in - buys everybody drinks with a huge wad of bills for a couple of hours - later that night cops got him - DWI. My wife with 5 other babes on a bachelor'et party - run into Riggo - he goes with them in their limo - bar hopping - he tries to pick up my wife but she rebuffs the buffoon - too drunk - he got her best friend.

I've hated the Cowboys ever since they sucked their way into the SuperBowl in '76. Staubach's "hail mary" against the Vikings was a good example of poor officiating, and Dallas fans think it was good football. I hope the Redskins kick their stupid asses this year, and good for Michael Irvin, couldn't have happened to a classier guy.

I'm a cheesehead. Packers all the way. I'ma diehard dyed in the wool true blue stuck with em fanatically through bad years boy don't them players have some majorly droolingly nice asses Packers fan.

Favre is a twit.

I don't have any stats memorized, games to hash out, or even a vague recollection of general happenings of the NFL world. I like the world football league too. Go Rhine Fire! (cause Hecate is German and my StudMuffin was born in Stuttgart).

Jesus, Deborah, ya had to bring up such painful mememories. I've been sitting here in shock cause I CAN'T believe football season is over already. The Steelers are just absolutely fucking terrible, then Penn St went out and lost to motherfucking Toledo at home!!! And Pitt is, well, Pitt. I'm just kicking back and waiting for Hockey season to start - Let's Go Pens!!

Anyways, back to football. The only good thing I see coming out of this season is that - if the Steelers can find away to lose to the Bengals twice (UGH!), they've got a good shot at that #1 overall pick next year and FINALLY getting that QB they so desperately need - DREW BREES!! YAY!! It's just too fucking bad they didn't see the light this past off season and start dumping some of these salaries and rebuild like they need to. Bettis should be gone - but he will be after this season (free agent) - and Dermontti Dawson will be gone (free agent and bad hamstrings). If they had any fucking brains (Hell, all you gotta do is look at Bill Cowher and the whole Kordell Stewart mess to realize they don't), they'd move Levon Kirkland while he's still got some value....

Goddamn, I could go on about this forever. Everytime I hear the name Kent Graham my blood starts to boil... Why the fuck did they let Anthony Wright go... Ok, Ok, I'm gonna stop now....

Ummmm...Ok, quick Super Bowl prediction (remember, you heard it here first!) Tampa Bay 19 Buffalo 3!

Hey!!! I can even use a familiar chant with that! Let's go Bucs! Let's Go Bucs!! LET'S GO BUCS!!! (I sure as hell haven't had to use it this baseball season, lemme tell ya!).

Neener neener, I'l be at the Redskins/Cowboys game Monday! (Does the I-hate-both-teams, but-someone-has-to-go-with-my-father-in-law dance) Anyone who read my thread in the How To forum will understand, I'm going for leave us alone points.

I'm a Pathers fan, no reason, and a Lions fan because that is where we are from. My grandfather would strike me down from heaven if I didn't pull for the Lions.

I'm never ready for football, but I know what this means. It means I have to put on my comfortable shoes and prepare to deliver a never-ending stream of beer, snacks, and towels to wipe up the mess to the fans . . .

Used to watch football, but I stopped when Montana was traded to that other team. He should have retired instead of allowing himself to be traded away like that. Anyway, I'm looking forward to hockey season. We have a local team, and I inted to go to a few games and find out what the big deal is.

The Colts kick ass!!! And Manning is really hot!

I agree with you. (But don't tell anybody that they choked last week against the Raiders.)

And for the ones that mentioned hockey; I like that too. Don't really have a favorite team unless it would be any team that is playing against that pussy Lindros. Gretzkey was of course 'The Greatest'.

My house on sunday

NY Giants....looking good so far...

NFL Sunday ticket on direct tv...13 games every sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh yeah

My Browns of course suck but they are looking down on the Bengals and Steelers. Super Bowl prediction: Bucs over Colts.

Speaking of Dennis Miller: I had thought him fairly useless until last Monday night. When he discussed the Jets owner Woody Johnson and the Patriots center Damien Woody and he joked that "The game, like most human contests, will come down to who has the best woody" was worth all the hype. And claiming that the teams have bloodlines more tangled than the Plantagenets! It's like the good ol' days when Dandy Don was stoned and Cosell was Cosell.

I love football, but I'm a Minnesotan...hockey is my game. And since we finally got a team again, I'm all wound up.

Go Vikings!!! Go Wild!!!

Ok..anyway...if you hate Denny Green, or find him slightly amusing, go visit this site:

http://www.92kqrs.com

Click on the "Denny's deal with the Devil" cartoon...you do need shockwave...this is brought to you by my favorite radio station KQRS...you can listen to the morning show live 5-9 am central time...Tommy B and the crew kick ass...

No, I don't work for the station, I just love 'em.

P.S. Doesn't the devil look like Bill Clinton? heehee

Expertise... we're twins!

Well, except for the fact that I'm 20 and you're... well I won't go there :) Hee hee!

Anyway,

Dallas Cowboys all the way, baby!

I haven't had too much time to keep up (Damn school! It gets in the way of drinking and having football parties and stuff!), but I know they're off to a bad start. Oh well. They're still my babies.

The Patriots or the Card's have to be my #2 choices. But alas, I have had even less time to follow them.

I live in Vermont, but I like the Cowboys. Go figure. They are pretty awful this year, though. If they only win one game I hope it is against the Redskins.

Geez Lasher, I just give up. I doubt I'll watch another Steeler's game. That last series in the Cleveland game yesterday, doh, I just don't know what else to say. Just awful. Even Terry Bradshaw said so and he wasn't the brightest QB to light up the sky with footballs.

Just imagine, the Steelers could have had Dan Marino for 17 years and won 5 more Super Bowls.

I hope both Dallas and Washington lose tonight. I'm only watching because I heard a rumor that it's scripted that Dennis Miller will finally say "fuck" on air because it's bound to be a really boring game.

I have to agree with ya, Deborah. That was absolutely the most godawful display of clock management that I have ever seen. You can add Coach Cowher to the list of the overpriced that will be getting booted out of the Burgh come this offseason.

Btw, rumor has it that when they implode Three Rivers Stadium in February that they will be locking the Steeler's offense and the coaching staff inside the building. Apparently the coaching is being locked in for punishment, while the offense will be imploded (though some say it already has imploded) as a salary cap move. Supposedly dead players don't count against the cap (although you'd have a hard time proving that after yesterday's game).

You've got to watch the Cincinnati games, Deborah. Those are going to be very, very important in determining whether or not Drew Brees becomes a Steeler next year...

Btw, if Chuck Noll would have drafted Dan Marino, he would've sat behind David Woodley for a year, and then behind Mark Malone for a year or two, and then would've been blessed with being able to throw to Weegie Thompson! Trust me, I don't think anyone was gonna get to the Hall of Fame having Weegie Thompson as his go to guy... What really burned my butt was the year Cowher and Donahue drafted Jamain Stephens #1, when they coulda had Mike Alstott... Dammit...

Have stadium....need football team.

Hey Lasher...I think they oughta wait to implode 3 Rivers during half time of the Bengals-Steelers Game. Of course the Bengals suck so bad the stadium may implode on it's own from the resulting vacuum.

The only thing lower than the barometer in Jacksonville yesterday was the level of offensive play calling ingenuity on the Cincinnati sideline..

The Bengals are scheduled to play the local chapter of the VFW Korean War amputees in a couple weeks...

The line has the Vets by 7......
