Are you missing a thread?

Hello all

As some of you probably have noticed, I'm one of the new moderators here on the Amateur Pic forum.

So I thought I would let you know that if you're missing a thread it can be due to one of those reasons:

  • The thread might be a very long thread with a combination of both pics from the net, and pics of lit members themself. Unfortunately I don't have the time on my hands to go through a thread with several hundred replies and delete single pictures. So in agreement with Laurel, those threads will be removed, unfortunately for those that have posted pictures within the rules here.

It's a new thread, with pictures posted by the same person of several different people. And that makes me suspicious, so I remove it.

You might ask why not PM the poster, and ask him/her to remove the picture, before I do it. Well you see, it does say when you enter the path to the picture you want to post:

Please do not post copyrighted images!

And if people can't accept that, I don't see any reason to ask them to remove picutures.

I do however try to PM a person who post pictures from the net, and ask them kindly not to do it, after I've removed their pictures or thread.

You can kick me out, but this way( delete whole Threads) is dumb. We have so many fine threads here that obey the rules , now if somebody posts a few copyrighted pics inside those threads you kill the whole thread and the work and fun everybody had with this thread!?!?!?  If you really do it like that ( remember the Older Ladys Thread?) you gonna piss of many people. Enough rude words, just needed to relieve some pressure , But how about this: You give the Threadstarter the premission to edit every picture attachment inside his thread.

Oh yes even other people pics, they have to deal with it. The threadstarter and the moderators can work together to keep the threads clean of copyrighted,Kiddie and Spams Stuff. For the Threadstarter is only a "delete picture"option, everyone can still say what he/she wants to say, but pics of any wrong kind can be deleted by the threadstarter. No wrong pictures= The Thread can stay alive! HOW ABOUT THAT?

ShyGuy,

I read your first explanation 3 times and I still don't get it. Could you explain again? Thanks!

This is exactly what I suggested in PM's to Nigel, ShyGuy and Laurel....after all the thread starter does have certain responsibilities and can work hand in hand with the moderators and make them even more effective.....let's work together. Lit could even post up a warning message when you start a thread specifying the thread starters responsibilities to keep things in compliance. As it now stands, starting a thread is just as simple as posting a post.

Thank you hong luobo . :D People use the PM system and drown the moderatores with messages. If they dont change the system SHYGUY68 demands your thread with dozens of buddies and daysfull of fun and work can be deleted because of one persons wrong pictures.

If the threadstarter were to receive editing rights, then hong's suggestion that they only be able to delete pics makes sense.

Still, why don't pic posters take the responsibility to NOT post pics that are not theirs? (or, at leat if they do, do it on a fresh thread so only THAT gets zapped)

Notice I said "pics that are not theirs" rather than "copyrighted"... that's because few, even with the explanations posted, realize that ALL these pics are copyright by the originator.

Wife & I have posted in a few pic newsgroups for a year & a half now. someone inquired about another poster not seen in a while, & asked for reposts of their pics. Part of my response addresses why reposts of others' pics are objectionable, besides any commercial rights and individual or site have:

Those of us who post do enjoy sharing, but not so our pics will become a commodity.
There are a multitude of motives for individuals and couples posting, but one part of it which is fairly universal is to receive feedback, either in the group or via e-mail.
If others repost, the others receive the feedback, not the original poster; in fact, the original poster may not be aware of the reposting.
If you like someone's original posts, let them know, give them the kudos rather than saving them for someone who's able to provide copies later. In many cases you will find the poster will dig out something you missed or include some "bonus" pics in their reply to you.
Encourage posters by writing to posters.

Now, granted, you may not be able to contact the person in the original post, and some may have posed commercially and or otherwise do not want feedback - but many would be quite annoyed to find their pics all over, either without their permission, or not getting feedback for their efforts.

There are other reasons to be sure, but the indisciminate copying of pics is one reason many people will not post their face in pics, not knowing where they will show up later, and reducing the commercial value as well. WE started after a while posting copyright notices on Katy's pics (not that reposters pay much attention).

All that having been said, I will miss some of the threads and those stolen pics on them *L*

They don't have to kick me out. I'm history. I can see their point on the copyrighted pics, but there are many sites where the pics are NOT copyrighted, and we are allowed to copy them.

The way I see it, unless a website states that the pics they post may NOT be copied and posted elsewhere (i.e.voyeurweb.com) then those sites have no right to bitch if their pics are copied. Some sites even disable the righthand mouse button so the pics can't be copied.

Also: When a person signs on with a premium site and pays a fee then they are paying for the right to use the pics they gather in any wasy thy please.

In my own opinion there's just too much censorship here.

This site has so much to offer that other sites don't. Fortunately, there are a plethora websites on the net, catering to all tastes, something for everyone. To participate on any one of them, you are usually asked to follow certain rules, including paying fees for access to some. I enjoy Lit as it is. I am glad you found other sites that suit you.

Hi, it's the other moderator....

And I wanted to kick in my 2/5 of a nickel.

Re: Thread starters having editing rights. Thread starters can do a lot to keep their threads problem free - they can report the offending posts to a moderator, and we can take care of it. It's very closely related to what hongluobo suggested, and still allows the thread starter to take responsibility for their thread.

Re: copyrighted images. Steelcock, when you pay a fee to view pics in a pay site, that's what you're paying for. Viewing. Think about it. It makes no sense to have people pay to get into a site and then allow them to post those same pics for free elsewhere. The site would be losing money....and pay sites HATE to lose money.... :)

As far as what is a copyrighted image - I asked Laurel what the guidelines are (i.e. should the pic be deleted only if there is a copyright symbol, etc or a website name on it, etc). She answered (and I'm paraphrasing) that if the pic is not of the poster, or if it wasn't taken by them, we don't want it on the site. She's erring to the side of safety from litigation (which could make Lit go bye-bye) and I think it's correct.

Besides folks, the name of the board is "Amateur Pic Feedback." Amateur. Non-professional. Didn't get paid for or derive income from. It's a place for the lovely ladies and handsome gents of Lit to post pics of themselves. If folks want to share pics from other sites, I have no problem with that really. I wouldn't suggest that you email them to each other...because as we found out from the Napster debacle, sharing files is wrong..... :)

ShyGuy and I (and excuse me for speaking for you ShyGuy, but I think you'd agree with me) don't want to kill threads. But sometimes it has to be done, rather than editing each post. If everyone follows the guidelines, it will make our job a lot easier..and trust me, the board will still be a hell of a lot of fun.

So get those digital cams a'snappin! And take good care.

Nigel

May the copyright gods smile on you. Truly. I work part time for an intellectual property law firm...and they can be vicious. Good luck to you. :)

i too like literotica the way it is. the amateur pic section drew me because it has pictures of regular people - i find looking at a regular girl (not that any of the lit girls arn't anything but absolutely gorgeous and are anything but 'regular') much more of a turn than models on other sites, the imagination that people come up with for pics, poses and artistic touches to photos. thats whats kept me comming back. as well as reading what people have to say but thats beside the point. i feel cheated when you wait for a pic to download and its something pulled off of the net and its got to cost the nice literotica people money to have them on htier site.(not to mention legal matters) im happy for moderators to remove threads - how many warnings do people need? theres been a thread at the top of the boards for months letting people know the situation on copyrighted pics and if people cant be bothered to take notice then they have only themselves to blame for getting threads removed. i know some innocent people have to suffer (which isnt cool) but im sure they could repost the missing pics as a way of getting round that problem. im sure they would rather do that than lose literotica (beacause of someone else) from a copyright lawsuit.

my two pence worth ramble.

I have been on both sides of this... and have a few things to say....

First - I have talked with Nigel a couple times in connection to a thread that was eventually deleted, and have to say, he gave everyone a fair chance to GET the pics off the thread. When no one replied or complied, what choice does he have, but to delete it.

As sad as it made me to see some of these wonderful threads go, I also understand the copyright issues, and the whole erring on the side of safety. I LOVE LIT - and would hate to see anything put this site in jeopardy. I feel badly that this whole thing is causing some to leave.... but I also agree that it is AMATURE pics... if I wanted to see pro pics, as nice as they are, for free or pay... well, we all know there are plenty of ways to do that.... so why mess things up here?

I don't think it is that hard to take a few pics of yourself, or friends, or whatever, and use that to post. In fact, it can be rather fun. Please.... lets just keep this fun for everyone..... and those who feel the need to leave, well, they will be missed, but good luck.

For thread starters... or not even thread starters, but those very active here on these boards... if you do not want your thread deleted.. you have the power of a PM too. I know that I have pm'ed a few to let them know there could be copyright concerns that might jeopardize our threads. I have been recieved well in some cases - it's a newbie or someone who truly didn't know better - and in others... well... But, if you notice someone posting a questionable picture, and you're active enough on the boards to start a thread or whatever... you should also be active enough to just drop a kind line letting them know about the copyrights. Then, you do have some power to monitor your own threads....

As for Nigel and ShyGuy - I do not envy you two. You have a tough job here on the boards, but it has to be done, and I understand that. Good luck - and hope to see you around - although not on one of my threads... LOL

Not even to let you know that we like your pictures? ;)

Well, darlin', I suppose that would be fine... I'be got nothing to hide..... ;)

Even other peoples posted pics? No way! Then you give them to much power to screw around with others posts.
Now I think I know the thread in question, and it had waaay to many copyrighted pics in it to edit eac one. Lets remember, these mods do have other things to do then sit here and edit all day long.

You know, just because that's what you do when you're here, it doesn't mean that we do it!
