--

For those who may have forgotten, the challenge was to name five things Colly and Doc have in common. By now you should have come up with at least four.

So without further ado, here's the number one thing Colly and Doc have in common: Neither of them had a single story receive a "Reader's Choice" nomination in their primary category.

Top 50 rankings be damned, apparently none of Colly's Lesbian Sex stories were considered choice by "ass-tute" Lit nominators.

Similarly, none of Doc's BDSM stories were nominated by Lit reader's for inclusion among the five best in that category.

Kind of makes you wonder if democracy hasn't gone too far.

--last note: This wasn't intended as a knock on Laurel or anyone who was nominated in those categories. And it wasn't intended as a call to arms for a perceived slight to Colly and Doc. The quality of their work speaks for itself. This was just a personal rant & rave, so consider the source.

Perhaps the AH weren't aware of the nomination system.

I wasn't. Even though I get a mention and a whole 2 votes for Chain Story.

Visit the Awards and Contest Forum and see what you think of the stories. I think there are some good ones there - but many more good ones that aren't nominated.

Og

Og,

I noticed you got a nomination. Congratulations. Just don't let those two votes go to your head. :)

Like you, the RC nomination thingy must have slipped under my radar. I haven't even finished doing a rape and pilliage voting number on the Valentine stories. But we've got all month on RC voting.

I don't think having an H has anything to do with it. I think you have had to have the number one story in the category along with a certain number of votes at whatever point Laurel was checking it.

As I understand it, the "REader's Choice" stories in the specific categories have nothing to do with nominations. I believe it's a combination of reads, ratings, and # of votes.

You have to win a category during the year.

And on February 1st, Laurel selected for each category (from the 12 category winners from 2003) the five highest scoring stories.

I nominated Colly for Most Influential Writer (as did others). I think the only way non-category winners can make it into the voting system is by reader nominations.

Colly and Dr. Mabeuse are both nominated in some impressive categories, though. Honestly, I wasn't even aware of the Awards and Contests forum until Gauche posted his thread about AH regulars who are nominated and in some close races.

I checked out the forum tonight and found a lot of familiar authors nominated. I'm reading and voting as fast as I can - I try to keep up with stories by the AH regulars, but it would be a lot easier if you would all write more slowly.

:D

Congratulations to Og and all of you who are nominated for stories, characters, general lewdness and endangering the cleanliness of readers' panties.

I salute you. I do other things to you as well, but only in my imagination.

Additional congratulations to Dr. Mobeus/Mabose/Mabeuse, whose name is spelled correctly in some of the nominating posts.

:D
