Football ain't going nowhere.
I give props to my late grandfather for not letting his offspring play it competitively on teams. He was a basketball/baseball coach and close friends with football coaches... he knew how dangerous it was long before bounties and other stupid shit were involved.

I don't like football or basketball because they aren't played by real people...they are freaks. In the NFL, I feel the size of the players have overcome the architecture of the human body. By that I mean they are bigger, stronger and faster that a human was designed to be. I think, for example, a knee has a limited capacity. Modern NFL players have exceeded that capacity. Being so big and so fast they hit with more force than an opponent was designed to tolerate, hence more injuries and concussions. The same is starting to happen in the NHL. The players are too big and too strong.
I've never watched an NBA game. They don't play by the rules of the game as it was taught to me. I don't see anything especially skillful about a 7 ft. player dunking inta a 10ft. goal. I think basketball was invented with a certain sense of proportion. To that end, I think the hoop in the NBA should be set at 15ft.
if it didn't end when kids were actually dying on the field thanks to the flying wedge i highly doubt this shit will kill it.
I love football, but without the violence( I mean legal violence) there is no game.
The concussion thing may very well over a generation kill all contact sports, hockey isn't far behind.
All our kids kids will have to play soccer, baseball or basketball.
They didn't have goddamn ambulance chasers back then.
"Nice people don't sue" was the prevailing norm. "Nice people" still don't sue but there aren't many "nice people" left.
Maybe. I've heard of those players, but I've never seen them play. Shaq kind of tuned me off. He played a game that I, as a casual observer, didn't recognize as basketball. He physically didn't look like a basketball player, and those monster dunks just didn't impress me.
For me it started with Michael Jordan, who played playground ball and took 35 steps without dribbling every time he touched a basketball, but he was still beautiful to watch...
