Yes, probably most of us. Even the Native Americans, who everyone likes to think were so in tune with nature, caused the extinction of all the giant mammals on the North American continent through overuse. Well, we'll just have to find ourselves another planet. Mars is looking good.

I always liked the idea of everybody being reversibly sterilized at birth, and then having to get a permit to have a child, going through the same process parents have to do to adopt a child. The population in many countries (including the U.S.) is not exploding, and would actually decrease eventually if the birthrate dropped. Of course, there is incredible potential to abuse this system, so I don't think it would ever work in real life.

I know, I know, it smacks of totalitarianism. But I always found it ironic that people who want to adopt a child have to go through years of screening processes, but any loser with a uterus can have as many children as they want.

In no way am I saying this idea would ever work. But in a perfect world...
