To me? Yes they are, but like it has been said, it depends on the person giving them and the circumstance in which they are being given.

Spanking is a big "Trust" factor, to trust the person that is administering the spanking is very much a part of eroticism, if you don't trust them then you panic and it becomes out and out pain. Like anything sexual, if you don't feel comfortable at all, then don't do it. What some like, others don't, what I may find erotic and a real turn on, others wouldn't do for their life.
