Are Slips Extinct?

The feminine allure of a woman dressed in a slip is timeless. Full or half, those slippery, shimmery underthings have such an arousing blend of practical and sensual. And now, it seems, nostalgic. Anyone here still wear slips in occassional daily life? Or in the bedroom?

My last slip fun was about a year ago when my lover showed me a few vintage ones she ended up with from her grandmother's things, as well as a fur. She posed in the slips and fur, the tease ending with that long white lace-hemmed slip bunched around her waist as we both got off to a good old fashioned missionary union!

I am 49 and never owned on....
Would you like to? Letting a dress or skirt slide to the floor as a lover sees you in such a form flattering and light and shadow enhancing intimate garment would give them an extra tease and thrill for sure. Does this appeal to you or does it seem too impractical?

I can just wear a thin dress and let it fall off my shoulders and have some nice lingerie underneath that is sexy.

Hmmm... Perhaps there is a lit lady out there with a slip in her drawers? Who might slide it over her curves, admire her form in a mirror, and feel a flush realizing how many admirers will please themsleves with ravenous feelings of desire for her if she were to share an image of her slip-enhanced form? Maybe?

I am 56 and wore slips most of my life. Usually so the dress or skirt I was wearing wasn't sheer standing in front of a glass door.
I stopped buying slips when most of the dresses or skirts I own are lined.

I have one navy blue floral chemise that reminds me of being in a slip.

It is an interesting thing, really. I remember slips. Unfortunately, I was too young to appreciate them. I saw almost every important "older" woman, in my childhood, in a slip. Grandmothers, aunts, older cousins, mother, one baby sitter, and a neighbor or two.

If I had appreciated what was underneath and understood that at 30, 40, or 50 it still looked good, I think it would have messed up my childhood. Some of them were still in their 20s. I had one aunt that was (by any standard) a stunner. I'm glad I never knew how smooth her skin still was under her slip, when she was 40. For the most part, though, I think women stopped wearing them when thy stopped wearing dresses, all the time.

Just about every woman in the neighborhood would answer the front door, in her slip, after dinner time or on weekends.

I own quite a few sheer/see through babydolls and slips which I wear to bed and just like the above person said...gets the hubby's attention quickly although i probably never get to wear it for more than a few minutes without it coming off!
Traditional slips under clothing still have their importance but I think for everyday wear it's maybe not as comfortable/practical?

Thanks Anne! I have a slip photo thread if you’re bold and so inclined. I’m sure your hubby appreciates how you dress for him. And taking it off is half the fun! (Though leaving it on is fun too - mighty hot to look down at a lover getting what she needs while her slip/gown/dress/skirt is bunched up around her waist!)

I sincerely hope not. When we were younger there were so many sexy slips on the market but where we are they have become quite scarce and the ones we can find are pretty boring.

Etsy is a great source for vintage slips. And thrift stores sometimes have some treasures. Yeah, used underwear is icky (except those lover gives me!) but slips seem more like dresses in that regard - worth consideration from Good Will.

I still like wearing a full slip under my dresses, except sun dresses. I like how they feel, I like how my dress slides over them, I like how they keep me warmer and I like how my husband stares at me when I am down to just my slip. I also like a full slip under my blouse and skirt with some outfits, although as others noted, with a lined skirt it is not as important. Sometimes when I am away from home on business I like a shorter slip to sleep in.

They are getting harder to find, but you can still find my favorite Vanity Fair slips. My daughters tell me no one wears a slip anymore so I quit pushing it when they were in high school.
